A young Eurasian Tree Sparrow on my new perch. I'm not sure how many of these guys we have fledged from nests in our yard, but it is quite a few-- we have 4 active nesting sites, and they are all on their second or third brood this year. It's a mystery to me how they have failed to spread beyond the St Louis area. Glendale, Missouri
Strange, leaning shack near Helix, Oregon in Umatilla County.
Can't see how it's going to be upright much longer. The great sky was what made me take the time to shoot this.
Haltern, Germany, 2022.
Shots like these make me think I should shoot wide open more often.

Loved the gentle leaning curve of this pine against the rigidness of its neighbour as it bent out into winter scene. Taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire.

Recent gales have brought down a number of old trees. I’m not totally surprised as the environment around them has been built upon and is changing rapidly. Just a strip of woodland left. Sad.
Another from the fern strewn area in Hillock Wood where the sparse conifers share their space with juvenile beech and holly. Made more magical when there is mist in the air :)
Taken at the top of Whiteleaf Cross yesterday after the mini snowstorm, the surrounding trees and mist made for some wonderful scenes. Although processed in black and white, there really was not much colour to be had!
A tree's roots have been uncovered by flood waters. Although it is leaning toward the river, somehow it still stands.
