Cathédrale Saint-Pierre Genève . Switzerland. Izakigur 12.05.18, 11:53:19 No. 8721 22 23 24 25.

"The St. Pierre Cathedral is a cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland, today belonging to the Reformed Protestant Church of Geneva. It is known as the adopted home church of John Calvin, one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation. Inside the church is a wooden chair used by Calvin.

That relocated headlight lets you know the leader on Norfolk Southern's train 290 wasn't always a thoroughbred. NS 3553 was built in 1979 for the Burlington Northern; BNSF sold it as surplus at the turn of the Century. Helm Financial had it in leasing service until 2013 when Norfolk Southern bought it and others to add to their fleet.

As mentioned in an earlier posting, Hubbard Pond and its surroundings are under consideration as the site for a heavy industrial type facility by the Regents of the University of Michigan. If the project goes forward, another piece of the critical natural habitat necessary to sustain these and other vulnerable creatures will be lost forever.

UPDATE: In a 12 March 2016 letter, the President of the University of Michigan indicates the proposed heavy industrial project for this site has been "paused". Plus, all applications for various construction permits are suspended and no construction contracts have been awarded.

While this turn of events appears positive, all it takes is a whim to re-activate the project. Until the final determination is STOP, the possibility of this easily preventable man-made disaster remains. Now is the time to stand-up. Mother Nature needs your voice.

An Andean flamingo goes for a walk in the marshes around the Laguna Salada near Machuca, Chile.

Machuca is a tiny village located 45 km north of San Pedro de Atacama, in the Chilean Atacama Desert.

A few kilometers before, at an altitude of about 4300 m, the road is bordered by salt ponds and salt marshes where many flamingos can be seen.

The Andean Flamingo (Phoenicoparrus andinus) is one of the three species of flamingo found in Chile and of the six species in the world.

Like all flamingos, they are omnivorous filter-feeders, filling their beaks with salt lake water and sifting it out to eat plants, insects, shrimps, and fish.

Some live on the West Coast and some live in the East, so getting together was a challenge. Here Toronto's (Vancouver born) Laila Biali, who shared piano and keyboard keys with Amanda Tosoff. SSR’s P17 leads a single BGKF grain wagon and retired Comeng cars 301M-1001T-302M 303M-1002T-304M with T381 trailing to Bendigo at Clarkefield. The grain wagon was going for repairs, the Comeng sets are to be scrapped. The units were heavily vandalised whilst in storage at North Shore yard since August, with large amounts of graffiti and numerous smashed windows. One of the cars was even set on fire, which prompted security to be hired 24/7 to watch over the trains. 301M is the class leader of the Comeng sets. Built from 1981, 187 three car Comeng sets were built by Commonwealth Engineering. They are now progressively being retired, with the oldest ones going first and the last will be retired around 2026. After tacking on a standard cab SD60 in Atlanta the decision was made to drop that locomotive in Harrisburg Yard (lacked the required cab signals to traverse the Pittsburgh Line) and spin the 3 F-Units.

Why this wasn't done down south I don't know, but the 4270 would become the westbound leader for the rest of the journey home from Harrisburg to Altoona.

CSX L160 is about to pass under the West End Bridge, one of the best locations for a good city skyline shot in Pittsburgh with finally something decent on this train again.

I "created" this last week using Photoleap A.I. , but hesitated to post it. The intended reference was "The Apprentice", a TV show that helped made Trump "famous". Then on Easter morning I saw the obscene and threatening post that he made on social media and decided that this image is very appropriate. His action wasNOT that of a normal national leader.

When my aging mother started having dementia problems I attended a workshop related to her condition. There I learned that one of the signs of dementia was the use of inappropriate language.Trump's Easter outburst on social media was NOT a sign of a crass person. It was a sign that the 25th Amendment needs to be invoked due to his mental unfitness to hold his elected position. A number of national leaders have bluntly said the same.

We need to resolve this issue before the nation and the world experiences even worse than the present disruptions. We need to do it NOW.

The Rainbow Lorikeets were having a bit of a beak wag around the feeder on Sunday. One seemed to be holding court whilst the others appeared to be fascinated by whatever story he was relating. Just a little social shot for those who may not be familiar with the antics of these birds. On closer observation, you can see that the one telling the story has pollen around its beak whilst none of the others do. Perhaps it was telling them the "secret" location ?
