The new Womens Pro Hockey League PWHL - Is there gender discrimination shown in CBC's sports programming decisions ? CBC seems reluctant to support or televise important sporting events played by male athletes such as the Grey Cup, FIFA, Copa America international Men's soccer football and the Men's World Juniors hockey tournament, and so a huge fanbase wasn't able to see Canadian male star pro athletes like Acadia Axemen footballer Bailey Feltmate in the Grey Cup, or Nova Scotia's Jacob Shaffelburg in the Copa international Men's soccer tournament or Connor Badard in the IIHF World Men's Juniors hockey tournament ?

A proud Canadian Company ? Super Bowl LVIII, Las Vegas USA . Bell media CTV network floods the North American airways with numerous ads promoting their CTV coverage of the upcoming 2024 American Superbowl and then they broadcast 10 straight hours of uninterrupted prime time live T.V. coverage of a major American sporting event being held on Superbowl Sunday in Las Vegas Nevada ? Feb 2024 - Halifax Nova Scotia,
Bell media and CTV have deafened and blindfolded many East Coast residents after eliminating critical hours of local and community news programming in the Atlantic region ?
Recent Bell Canada Corporate decisions have now left many Maritimers in a vulnerable position ? East Coast Provinces appear to be the target of severe local live Newstime cancellations and these cut-backs have left many Maritimers without their daily Noon news hour updates that are broadcast everyday all week long ? ATV viewers will now be forced to tune into the other station (CBC) where CBC tends to run mostly world international news along with their select choice of the National News, along with lengthy live news conferences that are put on by the PM and other liberal party members ?
Aside from terminating the popular weekday ATV Noon hour news show, CTV has also downsized in half the very popular and iconic , 'ATV live at five' 5 P.M. local community news program, (prompting long time popular host Jason Baxter to seek early retirement) ? Adding to the devistating loss of this much needed news reporting that is traditionally broadcast every week, Bell will also now terminate all weekend Saturday and Sunday local news reporting currently running on ATV ? The cancellation and elimination of so much allotted local news airtime that is normally given to Atlantic Canadians surely threatens the safety and security of residents especially now that there will be a 24 hour local news blackout for 2 full days each and every weekend and even for as much as 3 consecutive days every holiday long weekend ? And so it seems that arch rival CBC has taken over prime time live local news reporting in the Maritimes and Bell Canada is blaming the Liberal Government's new Bill C-18 for them having to slash so many prime time hours of local and Provincial news coverage in the Maritimes ?

Funding dirty coal? Not with our money.
Activists hung a banner on Bank of America's Charlotte, NC headquarters to tell the bank: "Not with our money!" People are fed up with Bank of America putting profits before people and planet. The bank is the largest funder of the US coal industry and the leading foreclosure on Americans' homes. Meanwhile, BoA is laying off 30,000 workers and hiking fees left and right. Enough is enough.
As the morning started to slip away four other activists barricaded the main entrance door to BOA's corporate headquarters and held a banner that said "Bank of Coal"
This was all followed up by protest march to the corner of Tryon and Trade Street, where the Rainforest Action Network had several speakers speak before marching over to BOA

Originally named Cima by the Spanish traders who passed through in the late 1700s, the Sante Fe Railroad Company started a town here in 1878 as a railroad stop and a place to house workers. In 1906, the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company(CF&I) took over the location and built the town.
CF&I excavated a mine shaft and coal was the subject of the mine. The mine produced over 600 tons of coal per day and by the time the mine closed, over 11 million tons of coal had been extracted. The coal would then be loaded up onto a train and shipped up to Pueblo to be processed.
At it's peak in the 1920s, Morley had over 600 residents, a post office, a school and a church(the St. Aloysius). By 1949, CF&I had begun considering closing the mine, as it had dropped to less than half it's peak production and operating costs were getting too strenuous. They began laying off workers in 1950, and by 1955, only about two dozen remained. The mine was finally closed in 1956. CF&I then demolished all the buildings in the town except for the St. Aloysius church, which is still standing in fair condition today.
Many, many, many foundations can be found today. The townsite is enourmous and gives a great sense of what it was like to live in the town. An absolutely amazing place.

Haggen News Oregon
Klamath Falls, Ore. – It’s now been five months since two Haggen stores closed in Klamath Falls.
Klamath County Economic Development Association Director Greg O’Sullivan said the Haggen closures aren’t the result of a poor economy, “They over-reached, and they had to file a chapter filing. And I don’t know that there’s anything anybody could have done.”
Haggen purchased both Klamath Falls Safeway stores in the spring of 2015, and then closed them in September, laying off about 130 people. Both stores remain vacant.
O’Sullivan says many of those laid off have found new jobs. About 30 Haggen stores are scheduled to go up for auction March 11th. But Klamath Falls City Manager Nathan Cherpeski says the Klamath Falls stores aren’t on the list.
“Those two properties are no longer part of the bankruptcy, and are no longer part of Haggen’s assets – they belong to Haggen Property North, which is a different group,” said Haggen.
Cherpeski adds the city has hired a retail recruiter to work with Haggen on finding a replacement, “They’re working on something. They said they have a potential tenant in mind, and so we’re just kind of waiting.”
The name of that potential tenant hasn’t been released. The shutdown of both Haggen stores in Klamath Falls has resulted in a shortage of pharmacies.
One of the Haggen stores was also home to the only ‘Starbucks’ in Klamath Falls, but Starbucks has since re-opened in a local Albertsons.

CF&I then demolished all the buildings in the town except for the St. Aloysius church, which is still standing in fair condition today.
Many, many, many foundations can be found today. The townsite is enourmous and gives a great sense of what it was like to live in the town. An absolutely amazing place.

Bank of America, Not With Our Money!
You too can tell Bank of America, "Not with our money!"

As you drive from Toe-head, just beyond the Public House (Pub) “The Skibbereen Eagle”. ... at Tragumna strand there are some new holiday cottages which can enjoy the use of this slipway, I was standing on a secluded little beach just back from the rocks you see here... The beach which is the focal point of Tragumna lays off to the right of where we are looking
A handful of the 350 educators from Sachem, who came to Albany to lobby for their schools, students and jobs, met a representative of the governor, gave him personal letters outlining their concerns about budget cuts and told him they were all on the lay-off list. Video by Kara Smith.

I've tried for a while to lay off the subject of littering but now & then it seems to hit a new low and can't be overlooked. This spot of earth is immediately outside the main door to our public library. The plaque is in memory of ... presumably a library patron or benefactor. Libraries are a mecca for society's best, aren't they? Or are they?

Ben and I go over the notes for "And Your Bird Can Sing" by the Beatles.
Ben's enthusiasm really kept me going on Day Three of the lay off.

No she hasn't actually crawled before all the Grandparents and Aunties and Uncles get excited looking at this.
Lucy is however showing promise and looking quite pleased with herself and can get herself onto all 4s now. However she hasn't quite figured out that her legs will do as she asks them too with a bit of practice.
Also today speaking of the Aunties is Auntie Nic's birthday. Hopefully she has enjoyed her presents from us and hopefully isn't feeling cheesed out. Happy Birthday Auntie Nic. We'll lay off the cheese related products for a few years now we promise if we remember!
Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you soon.
Eleanor whilst all this is happening is having a whale of a time in a box of polystyrene. I will put a photo on my stream for you to see shortly!
