Working on a holiday, but at least it was in a cute coffee shop with exposed brick and Nick Cave playing (though my earbuds are plugged in because they started playing Girl Talk, which I cannot stand). I had a chai latte, which I've been drinking more of since my doctor told me to lay off the coffee.
Another HDR of Barton Dam taken just before dawn, this time in landscape for a fuller view of the dam.
In other news, this week has been rough for Yahoo, laying off a ton of people just before the holidays and shutting down or trying to sell off some of their services. I kinda forgot that Flickr and Yahoo were in cahoots until I read this interesting article: tcrn.ch/hCjWod
Seems like its time to start preparing for the worst and search for another photo sharing host just in case Yahoo decides to screw us Flickr users, although I'd be pretty happy if they were sold off to Google.

I had been trying to get mother and daughter to face the camera for a long time now at the trinkets stall atop the mountain at the Longji Rice terraces but with little success. The daughter eventually told her mother something in Chinese after which both of them gave me a quick pose. (see previous picture). Having got my shot, I tried to push my luck a little more by trying to get more candids of them. It was not fair on my part anyway as they had already posed and I'd got my shot, but I thought let me just try. They got busy as a couple of customers turned up. I decided courtesy demands I lay off now and so beat a quick retreat. (Longji Rice Terraces, near Guilin, China, May 2017)

i got this scar in a car wreck a long time ago. right away i started rubbing it down with shea butter and whatever else i could find to make my scar less visible. and today i noticed that it seems to have faded a little bit. and honestly, im a little disappointed. im gonna lay off the shea butter for a while. perfection is overrated.
Hip was really cool about not bringing up what a bunch of fuck-ups half the crew was. The other half? Well, they did a bunch of work...and paid him for the pleasure. What a scam! I mean this in the most flattering way....you gotsta hustle, and my man Hip is a mack-ass, OG Hussla...in the Bighorn. Just needs to lay off the Likker and Bitches.
Russell is to his left, and Larry to his right. They join Hip each year, and are the only regulars who struck me as not totally dysfunctional suck-ups. They ruled...and showed major class.

hey man, it is kinda easy to save money if you dont have to burn through it on bills. fortunatley i know how to save and that is the only way that i am staying afloat right now. after getting layed off 2 months ago i am depending on my savings to keep my head above water. well for starters, take your lunch and snacks to work with you. get you a good sized lunch bag and pack you a luch. instead of getting the coca cola brand or pepsi brand drinks get store brand drinks get a big variety pack of tater chips. make you a sandwich or something and take it all with you. when i was working i figured it up and when i started doing this i saved my self about 100 dollars a month. now the key is to set a goal for your self. everyone needs atleast 3 months of savings. that covers all your bills. figure up how much you need to survive for 3 months. rent, electic, water, insurance what ever. and you also need an entertainment fund. figure out how much you need to survive (not have a blast) survive from week to week. take what you have left and put 75 percent into your savings and the other 25 perent in your entertainment fund. the trick is to only use what is in the entertainment fund for entertainment. dont dip into the emergency fund to have fun off of. just make a goal and stick to the goal. oh yea, before you start putting away for your emergency fun gather all your bills, ones that are not like electric rent, gather any out standing medical bills, car payment, what every and take what you would put into your emergency fun and knock out these bills. you knock out those bills and then start saving. if you do this (and lord forbid you loose your job) all these little bills will be payed off and you will have 3 months of savings that you can depend on and still have a little in your entertainment fund if you need it. man i know that i rambled on and on but trust me right now now one can afford to throw away money (well some can) save every penny that you can put it away for your future. right now i am living off my savings and it is running to a quick end and i hope that i have a job before then but if i didnt have these savings i probably would not still have a roof over my head or food on the table for my family. good luck with your savings. It is never easy to save money, for one, you have to be smart and try not to spend more then you earn, so with that being said, it is not an easy thing to do, to control your spending before earning the cash and as soon as it comes in you have to save it and keep saving it and not buy expensive things every day of your life
Made this cup in the early hours in the quietude of my own apartment. I had to drive to a town in the foothills of California some three hours away and I was a little worried that I wouldn't make it without some caffeine. I had been laying off the drip lately but this Brazil that Andrew gave me was exceptional.
Finally the last ghost of this digital imaging project. This guy is inspired by a wasted youth playing starcraft. I thiink I'm going to lay off on the ghosts for a bit. I've really enjoyed doing the ghosts but I had to pump alot out for this project so I need a break from them for awhile, plus I don't want to be the "ghost guy", I have a couple other tricks too.

People blow things way out of proportion when they don't get what they want. Its just pathetic. I know I am guilty of this, but it isn't constant. Some people need to just chill out the drama, and lay off it for a while.

Recent Bell Canada Corporate decisions have now left many Maritimers in a vulnerable position ? East Coast Provinces appear to be the target of severe local live Newstime cancellations and these cut-backs have left many Maritimers without their daily Noon news hour updates that are broadcast everyday all week long ? ATV viewers will now be forced to tune into the other station (CBC) where CBC tends to run mostly world international news along with their select choice of the National News, along with lengthy live news conferences that are put on by the PM and other liberal party members ?
Aside from terminating the popular weekday ATV Noon hour news show, CTV has also downsized in half the very popular and iconic , 'ATV live at five' 5 P.M. local community news program, (prompting long time popular host Jason Baxter to seek early retirement) ? Adding to the devistating loss of this much needed news reporting that is traditionally broadcast every week, Bell will also now terminate all weekend Saturday and Sunday local news reporting currently running on ATV ? First things first... A Happy New Year to everyone!
Now, this was taken last night just after midnight (obviously). I had 2 choices, lay off the beer on Hogmanay and head into the town, up a hill somewhere or try to get some shots from the mum-in-laws balcony that looks down to the Castle, through a tree and with a phone transmitter just to the side. So, the beer won and this was taken at a range of approx 3 miles from the castle with a 70-200 F2.8 lens and a 2x teleconverter. Remote packed in again so was all done with 2s self timers. What I did learn is that at this level of zoom thats no good at all, lots of shake on other shots so this was the pick of the lot.
Students of the Music Schools of Athens protested, in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, against cuts in public education. These cuts resulted in the cancellation of the free transportation of the students to and from their school and the laying off of several of their teachers.

The game finished in a hard fought 3-2 victory for Darlo. who were 2-0 up inside 27 minutes.
Hardy opended the scoring for the visitors latching onto a superb ball from Thompson before slipping the ball past the advancing keeper.
Quakers went two-up on 27 minutes but it should have been more as thye spurned a host of chnaces. Liam Marrs’ free-kick was headed down by Mark Beck for Hardy to lay off in turn for Thompson to fire across Frith.
Against the run of play United pulled a goal back on 42 minutes when Jason Gilchrist spotted Jameson off his line, and chipped the ball over the keeper followed by an equaliser on 66 minutes from Thomson.
A draw looked on the cards however with 10 minutes left subsititute Cartman cleverly found Purewal with an overhead kick for his fellow sub to charge up the left. His ball to the far post was blocked, but it came back out to Cartman, who struck a low shot that took a deflection and beat the keeper to make it 3-2. Darlo were able to weather a late storm to secure all 3 points!
I drew this when I was in 9th grade. It was my first pen and ink and it just happened to come out quite well . . . I thought so, anyways... His pain is reflected several times over, and he still can´t lay down the bottle. Although, I must admit, I'm not sure how much I knew - if anything - about the typical middle-aged male active alcoholic. As luck would have it, I grew up to work in counseling, treatment, and criminal justice, so now i'm fully versed! :)

They have been imploding buildings left and right in Kodak park as the need for film manufacturing capacity has been reduced, and what manufacturing functions remain have been moving overseas. The blowing up of the buildings in combination with the laying off of thousands of Kodak employees in Rochester over the last few years has been sad for the city to watch. So this time, they made the implosion an "event" celebrating Kodak's future and invited everyone to come and watch.
