Still no self portrait...sorry... If I can get a decent night's sleep and not look like the walking dead, I promise I'll do one. But if it's not the cats waking me up, it's G, and I tell ya, there's nothing stranger than getting woken up at 4am and having someone ask you if you want a pickle. Yep. I think someone needs to lay off the cooking shows a bit...
Life is hard, everyone needs a light and I finally have mine. Inside my heart. It's a drive, an ambition, a love to go and do and live my life the way I've always wanted to live it. Sure I'm going to have bad days, everyone has bad days. Sure I might let it out to a friend now and again and usually it makes me feel better. It's amazing how getting things off your chest and not storing everything inside helps. It's amazing just having friends, period. I always knew I had a light inside of me, it was just a matter of getting it to turn on and it has. I feel brighter, happier, motivated to do all the things I've always wanted to do. Life is just good and I hope by the end of the year it will be even better. :)

**Marion Courthouse Square Historic District** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 96000111, date listed 1996-02-16

The Marion Courthouse Square Historic District clearly reflects the evolution and development of the city of Marion, the downtown commercial district, Marion Female Seminary, and the Centreville Street residential neighborhood. The courthouse square has, since its creation, been the heart of business and commercial life in Marion . Too, since its founding in the early 19th century, Marion has been recognized for it's citizens' commitment to education and religious institutions. The district contains the Marion Female Seminary (NRHP, 10/4/73) and three historic religious structures.
Founded on March 4, 1822, the city of Marion was originally known as Muckle's Ridge. By 1817, Michael Muckle had cleared an acre of land from a dense forest and constructed a cabin on the present site of the Perry County Jail (structure #79). Muckle later sold his improvements to Anderson West, then sheriff of Perry County. At the suggestion of Joseph Evans, a South Carolinian, the county commissioners, charged with finding a suitable location for the county seat of Perry County, changed the name of the town from Muckle's Ridge to Marion, honoring General Francis Marion, the "Swamp Fox" of Revolutionary War fame. After laying off the courthouse square and the surveying of streets, on May 22,1822, lots were sold at public auction but due to heavy rains, prices for prime lots remained quite low. The early sale of lots included those adjacent to the courthouse square. (1)

However, although CBC ignored and did not televise any of the IIHF Men's junior hockey games played, they were sure to make daily news reports and give a lot of air time focusing on an alleged past scandal that had involved a previous Men's IIHF Junior hockey team ? cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/media-centre/official-broadcaster-...

Bell media, is a proud Canadian Company ? It's Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas Nevada USA. Prior to the big game CTV has been flooding North American airways with ads to promote their full coverage of the upcoming American Superbowl and they will then broadcast 10 straight hours of uninterrupted prime time live T.V. coverage of this prime American sporting event on Superbowl Sunday 2024 ? However, on the other hand, back home in their home country of Canada, they don't broadcast anything at all, nothing (zero) blanco, zilch, silencio, not even 1 minute of CTV coverage of their own 2024 Canadian Grey Cup game for their fellow Canadians to enjoy ? www.flickr.com/photos/74039487@N02/53523500175/in/datepos...
Feb 2024 - Halifax Nova Scotia,
Bell media and CTV have deafened and blindfolded many East Coast residents after eliminating many critical hours of local and community news programming in the Atlantic region ?
Recent Bell Canada Corporate decisions have now left many Maritimers in a vulnerable position ? East Coast Provinces appear to be the target of severe local live Newstime cancellations and these cut-backs have left many Maritimers without their daily Noon news hour updates that are broadcast everyday all week long ? ATV viewers will now be forced to tune into the other station (CBC) where CBC tends to run mostly world international news along with their select choice of the National News, along with lengthy live news conferences that are put on by the PM and other liberal party members ?
Aside from terminating the popular weekday ATV Noon hour news show, CTV has also downsized in half the very popular and iconic , 'ATV live at five' 5 P.M. local community news program, (prompting long time popular host Jason Baxter to seek early retirement) ? Adding to the devistating loss of this much needed news reporting that is traditionally broadcast every week, Bell will also now terminate all weekend Saturday and Sunday local news reporting currently running on ATV ? The cancellation and elimination of so much allotted local news airtime that is normally given to Atlantic Canadians surely threatens the safety and security of residents especially now that there will be a 24 hour local news blackout for 2 full days each and every weekend and even for as much as 3 consecutive days every holiday long weekend ? And so it seems that arch rival CBC has taken over prime time live local news reporting in the Maritimes and Bell Canada is blaming the Liberal Government's new Bill C-18 for them having to slash so many prime time hours of local and Provincial news coverage in the Maritimes ?

Funding dirty coal? Not with our money.
Activists hung a banner on Bank of America's Charlotte, NC headquarters to tell the bank: "Not with our money!" People are fed up with Bank of America putting profits before people and planet. The bank is the largest funder of the US coal industry and the leading foreclosure on Americans' homes. Meanwhile, BoA is laying off 30,000 workers and hiking fees left and right. Enough is enough.
You too can tell Bank of America, "Not with our money!"

As Per the scrap car removal experts who have years of experience in the market, there are three basic options which you can select. There are a number of charitable organizations who deal with scrap cars and you can sell it off to them. When you are dealing with these charitable organizations, you also get a tax lay off which acts as a substantial benefit.

The Island is a bit if a bare rock, and the cow kept trying to swim the channel between Trial Island and the Victoria Golf Course on the main Island, which looked awfully green to the cow. The keeper had to keep rescuing the cow by tying a rope to it from his boat and pulling her back in.
Taj-ul-Masajid is a Mosque situated in Bhopal, India. The name is also spelt as Taj-ul-Masjid. However the correct Name is Taj-ul-Masajid and not Taj-ul-Masjid. "Masajid" means "Mosques" (Plural of "Masjid") and "Taj-ul-Masajid" literally means "Crown Among Mosques". It is the largest Mosque in India.
HISTORY
The construction of the Mosque was initiated during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar by Nawab Shah Jahan Begum (1844–1860 and 1868–1901) of Bhopal (Wife of Baqi Mohammad Khan) and continued to be built by her daughter Sultan Jahan Begum, till her lifetime. The mosque was not completed due to lack of funds, and after a long lay-off after the War of 1857, construction was resumed in 1971 by great efforts of Allama Mohammad Imran Khan Nadwi Azhari and Maulana Sayed Hashmat Ali Sahab of Bhopal. The construction was completed by 1985 and the entrance (eastern) gate was renovated grandly using ancient motifs from circa 1250 Syrian mosques by the contribution of the Emir of Kuwait to commemorate the memory of his departed wife.
ARCHITECTURE
The Mosque has a pink facade topped by two 18-storey high octagonal minarets with marble domes. The Mosque also has three huge bulbous domes, an impressive main hallway with attractive pillars and marble flooring resembling Mughal architecture the likes of Jama Masjid in Delhi and the huge Badshahi Mosque of Lahore. It has a courtyard with a large tank in the centre. It has a double-storeyed gateway with four recessed archways and nine cusped multifold openings in the main prayer hall. The Quibla wall in the prayer hall is carved with eleven recessed arches and has fine screens of trellis work. The massive pillars in the hall hold 27 ceilings through squinted arches of which 16 ceilings are decorated with ornate petaled designs.
ANNUAL CONGREGATION

WIKIPEDIA
The Panic of 1873 was a financial crisis which triggered a severe international economic depression in both Europe and the United States that lasted until 1879, and even longer in some countries.
The depression was known as the "Great Depression" until the 1930s, but is sometimes now known as the Long Depression.
The panic was caused by the fall in demand for silver internationally, which followed Germany's decision to abandon the silver standard in the wake of the Franco-Prussian war. In 1871, Otto von Bismarck extracted a large indemnity in gold from France and ceased minting silver thaler coins. The first symptoms of the crisis were financial failures in the Austro-Hungarian capital, Vienna, which spread to most of Europe and North America by 1873. It was one of a series of economic crises in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In Britain, the result was two decades of stagnation known as the "Long Depression", which weakened Britain's economic leadership in the world.
The Panic of 1873 and the subsequent depression had several underlying causes, of which economic historians debate the relative importance. Post-war inflation, rampant speculative investments (overwhelmingly in railroads), a large trade deficit, ripples from economic dislocation in Europe resulting from the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871), significant property losses in Chicago (1871) and Boston (1872) fires, and other factors put a massive strain on bank reserves, which plummeted in New York City during September and October 1873 from $50 million to $17 million.
The American Civil War was followed by a boom in railroad construction. 33,000 miles (53,000 km) of new track were laid across the country between 1868 and 1873. Much of the craze in railroad investment was driven by government land grants and subsidies to the railroads. At that time, the railroad industry was the nation's largest employer outside of agriculture, and it involved large amounts of money and risk. A large infusion of cash from speculators caused abnormal growth in the industry as well as overbuilding of docks, factories and ancillary facilities. At the same time, too much capital was involved in projects offering no immediate or early returns.
The failure of the Jay Cooke bank, followed quickly by that of Henry Clews, set off a chain reaction of bank failures and temporarily closed the New York stock market. Factories began to lay off workers as the United States slipped into depression. The effects of the panic were quickly felt in New York, and more slowly in Chicago; Virginia City, Nevada; and San Francisco. The New York Stock Exchange closed for ten days starting 20 September. By November 1873 some 55 of the nation's railroads had failed, with another 60 going bankrupt by the first anniversary of the crisis. Construction of new rail lines, formerly one of the backbones of the economy, plummeted from 7500 miles of track in 1872 to just 1600 miles in 1875. A total of 18,000 businesses failed between 1873 and 1875, with unemployment topping 14% by the end of the period. Building construction was halted, wages were cut, real estate values fell and corporate profits vanished.
American railroad unions commenced the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, preventing the trains from moving, especially in Pennsylvania and the great railway hub of Chicago. President Rutherford B. Hayes sent in federal troops in an attempt to stop the strikes. Fights between strikers and troops killed more than 100 and left many more injured. Further trouble came in July 1877 in the form of a crash in the market for lumber, resulting in the bankruptcy of several leading Michigan lumbering concerns. The effects of the resulting second business slump reached California by 1878. The tension between workers and the leaders of banking and manufacturing interests lingered on well after the depression lifted in the spring of 1879, the end of the crisis coinciding with the beginning of the great wave of immigration into the United States which lasted until the early 1920s.
Poor economic conditions caused voters to turn against the Republican Party. In the 1874 congressional elections, the Democrats assumed control of the House. Public opinion during the period made it difficult for the Grant Administration to develop a coherent policy regarding the Southern states. The North began to steer away from Reconstruction. With the depression, ambitious railroad building programs crashed across the South, leaving most states deep in debt and burdened with heavy taxes. Retrenchment was a common response of southern states to state debts during the depression. One by one each Southern state fell to the Democrats, and the Republicans lost power.

ABOVE: Stephan Huneck’s painting invites you into the canine classroom. Stephan attributed his dogs with bringing him out of a coma and saving his life. He subsequently devoted his life to depicting canine emotions in his inspiring works of art. He built The Dog Chapel on Dog Mountain in St. Johnsburg, Vt. Where dogs and their owners could come and go at will and pay tribute to those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Here the dogs teach the terms “recession”, “depression”, and “love.” When the U.S. economy took a turn for the worse, Stephen was faced with laying-off employees and losing his beloved Dog Mountain and the Chapel. He took his life, crossed the bridge, and joined his canine family members that he loved so dearly. An avalanche of love followed as fans around the world came to the defense of Dog Mountain. Stephen’s wife Gwen struggles to this day to continue her husband’s legacy and keep the Chapel’s doors open so humans and canines alike can visit 24 hours a day.

I too attribute my dog with saving “my” life. I once considered “my” options. I promised my dog Booster that I would never again take life for granted. I also promised him that I would take at least one day out of every vacation to extol canine virtues to express my gratitude for all that he has done for me. As a result, we have traveled the world hand in paw. The myriad newspaper articles you will find on the Internet describing our journeys together are in reality a manifestation of my promise to Booster. He brought me to Bergin University of Canine Studies where I obtained my Master’s Degree in December 2011. He has been the greatest teacher I have ever known. My Worldly Canine Art Collection evidences what dogs have taught me outside of the classroom. The world would be a different place if we simply lead by canine example.

Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson NJ was built during the Great Depression with grants from the federal government. A large portion of the labor came from layed off mill workers in Paterson NJ.
That federal investment in a construction project gave Paterson a 10,000 seat stadium that was used through the mid-1990s. Now in need a major renovations voters approved a ballot measure in 2009 to restore this historic structure.
Decton is one of the leading staffing agencies in Orange County, CA. They specialize in temporary to permanent staffing. Decton, an Orange County, CA temporary staffing agency, was recently recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies. (Newswire.net -- March 26, 2014) Irvine, CA -- Decton, an Orange County, CA temporary staffing agency, was recently recognized by the Orange County Business Journal as one of the fastest growing private companies in the county in 2013. Decton was founded in 2002 by San Juan Capistrano resident Stephen Beal. In the ensuing 12 years, Beal has grown Decton to become one of the largest staffing agencies in Southern California. I recently interviewed Mr. Beal to find out how he has guided Decton to accomplish so much in just a few years. I was also interested in what Decton provides that makes it unique among other California employment agencies. The following is a synopsis of our interview for LocalBizMarketingTV.com: Decton's unique business model appeared at the right place at the right time. In these uncertain economic times Decton offers local business the ability to create a very flexible workforce that can expand or contract without the liability of having to hire permanent employees. They can use Decton's temp employees until they are sure that the demand for their company's services will last. With the uncertainties businesses face from the economy and ongoing governmental changes it is hard for any business to make a long term strategic plan. Hiring permanent employees is a daunting commitment for anyone who is uncertain about their future. Not only is it personally tough for any employer to lay off staff, but it is also financially daunting. Looking at possible unemployment payments, insurance payouts, severance packages and other costs, many times it is easier for a company to put expansion on the back burner rather than risk being stuck with too many people. Decton Staffing Services Decton Staffing Services Decton stepped into fray and provided a sensible solution for these uncertain employers by taking on all of the employee risk. Decton is an Orange County employment agency, but it is more than that. Decton is actually an Orange County temporary to permanent employment agency. The beauty for businesses is that all the employees are actually Decton employees. The company is basically leasing them for a period of time. If they eventually decide to hire the employee as a true employee of their company, they can do that also. This gives any company great flexibility to expand or contract as demand warrants. It is ideal for seasonal companies where employee needs change throughout the year. It is ideal anytime a company sees a spike in business, but is uncertain that it will last. It is perfect when they get a large contract that they know will end in a few weeks or months. Since the employees are actually employees of Decton, Decton takes care of all the details like payroll, payroll taxes, workers comp, health insurance and retirement benefits. A real plus for the local business is that, even if they are not uncertain about the future, by using a Decton employee they get to test as many employees as they want without making any commitment. If a new staff member is not getting the job done, just call Decton and he/she will be replace immediately. It is much like having a probationary hiring period before offering permanent employee status. Decton's business model is ideal for almost any company because they do all the pre-employment qualifications including background checks, health checks, skills checks, and everything else a company might need. Of course the checkup process would be much different for hospital janitor than for a registered nurse or paralegal. Decton also provides a great place for its employees to work. They have choices from low skill jobs like janitorial services to construction to medical fields and IT services. They can choose temporary jobs that suite their needs or permanent jobs that provide unlimited potential. Decton 19800 MacArthur Blvd., Suite 600 Irvine, CA 92612 (949) 274-4696

Working on a holiday, but at least it was in a cute coffee shop with exposed brick and Nick Cave playing (though my earbuds are plugged in because they started playing Girl Talk, which I cannot stand). I had a chai latte, which I've been drinking more of since my doctor told me to lay off the coffee.

I had been trying to get mother and daughter to face the camera for a long time now at the trinkets stall atop the mountain at the Longji Rice terraces but with little success. The daughter eventually told her mother something in Chinese after which both of them gave me a quick pose. (see previous picture). Having got my shot, I tried to push my luck a little more by trying to get more candids of them. It was not fair on my part anyway as they had already posed and I'd got my shot, but I thought let me just try. They got busy as a couple of customers turned up. I decided courtesy demands I lay off now and so beat a quick retreat. (Longji Rice Terraces, near Guilin, China, May 2017)

Made this cup in the early hours in the quietude of my own apartment. I had to drive to a town in the foothills of California some three hours away and I was a little worried that I wouldn't make it without some caffeine. I had been laying off the drip lately but this Brazil that Andrew gave me was exceptional.
Finally the last ghost of this digital imaging project. This guy is inspired by a wasted youth playing starcraft. I thiink I'm going to lay off on the ghosts for a bit. I've really enjoyed doing the ghosts but I had to pump alot out for this project so I need a break from them for awhile, plus I don't want to be the "ghost guy", I have a couple other tricks too.
