Andreas Nikolaus "Niki" Lauda (born 22 February 1949) is an Austrian former Formula One driver who was the three time F1 World Champion, winning in 1975, 1977 and 1984. More recently an aviation entrepreneur, he has founded and run two airlines (Lauda Air and Niki). He was also the manager of the Jaguar Formula One racing team for two years. He is currently working as a pundit for German TV during Grand Prix weekends and acts as non-executive chairman of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team.
Lauda was seriously injured in a crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, during which his Ferrari burst into flames and he came close to death after inhaling hot toxic fumes and suffering severe burns. However he recovered and returned to race again just six weeks later at the Italian Grand Prix. Scars from the injuries he suffered have left him permanently disfigured. (Wikipedia)

The McLaren MP4/2 was a Formula One car designed by John Barnard of McLaren for the 1984 season. Like most of its major competitors (other than the Williams FW09), the car used an all carbon fibre chassis pioneered by the car's designer John Barnard with its predecessor, the MP4/1. The car was powered by a 1.5 Litre, 90° V6 TAG-Porsche turbo engine that produced 650 bhp (485 kW; 659 PS) in race set-up and up to 800 bhp (597 kW; 811 PS) in qualifying set-up i.e. with maximum turbo pressure. Lauda was joined for 1984 by Alain Prost

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachromeâ„¢ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.
The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired over those years.
I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.
Comments are welcome.

IL TEMPO GIGANTE from the movie FLÃ…KLYPA GRAND PRIX , (PINCHCLIFFE GRAND PRIX)
The car have two engines one turbine(back), and one piston(500+hp front).
The piston engine (7L 8cylinder Chevrolet), was a gift from Formel-1 driver
NIKI LAUDA.
The turbine engine is too noisy and powerfull, so is not in use.
Max speed 325 km/h.
0-100km/h in 6 sec.
Weight=3.0 ton. Lenght=6.70m Width=2.48m
Max hp(two engines)=1600hp. Buildt on a Cadillac-chassis.
A monster car, and a real masterpiece.
The car is buildt after drawings from Kjell Aukrust. By Bjarne Sandemose and the Italian race car manefacturer: Martinuzzi.
The car was the winner in Flåklypa Gand Prix(Pinchcliffe Grand Prix movie 1975).
I would say the movie is one of all time top Norwegian movie. This is the sort of movie thats still entertaining no matter what your age is:)
Intro goes:
100 miles north, a bit east and up, is Flåklypa...
home of bicycle repairman Reodor Felgen and his two assistants (seen in front on the car)- Solan Gundersen, morning bird and natural born optimist, and Ludvig who is a true pessimist.
Sponsored by oil sheik Ben Redic Fy Fazan, they build the car "Il Tempo Gigante" and the race of the decade is a fact.
A small teaser for thoose whos interested: The movie is translated to 70! languages : www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUuQwPOfQ1M&feature=related
