AKA "When good sunsets meet New Rules". Last night I saw the sky turning pretty colors so on the spur of the moment I thought I would head down to the lake that is a few minutes drive from my house, since it is a lovely place to watch sunsets. It is part of a city park that in the past has closed "at sunset". Which has usually meant a little past that since it is a popular place to watch them.
However, when I arrived at the lake, I saw new signs had been installed saying that the gates were now locked at 6:30pm, and the parks department staff were herding everyone to the parking lot. So I had to turn around and head back home. By the time I got home, the brightest colors of the sunset were already fading, although there were still some interesting purplish tones in the sky. I ended up taking a few shots from the top of the hill in my neighborhood.
Last Light.
Have a lovely evening.

Winter magic on the "Erbeskopf", highest elevation in Rhineland-Palatinate (816 m). After a snow break, only a few of these high spruce trees remained on the summit plateau.

Thought I had better prove I do actually use my camera in England. Went to Bempton Cliffs in East Yorkshire last night primarily to watch seabirds. We saw thousands but we were also treated to a spectacular sunset over the North Sea.
All in all a great night out we ate wonderful Fish and Chips in Bridlington to start the evening and had a pint in Beverley to finish it. Bliss
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

This was my last shot at this iconic location before the post-storm sunset ended. I thought I was the only one left until processing the image (bottom left).

Tonight is my last night of being single :)
I am lucky enough to get a second chance with my Bestest Friend
Our last morning at the Fiesta was phenomenal. Winds perfect and the balloons were all over in front of us. This I will never forget for the rest of my life.
Yesterday evening we went out for a family walk in a field with cuckooflowers. The wind was gone and the sun was breaking through. Most butterflies opened their wings for getting some last sunlight and i was able to take a few images.
I also discovered two orangetips on one flower :-) This morning i went back and it costs me two hours for getting an acceptable image in poor light conditions and a lot of wind. I post that one later.
Thanks everyone for visiting my stream and i hope you don't get bored of all the buterfly images.
'Last Sun' and 'First Light' is a series of photos taken on Dec. 31, 2022 and Jan. 1st, 2023.
On both days, I used a fixed camera setting to take the photos, resulting sometimes in over- or underexposure.
It is interesting how the fixed settings (aperture, exposure time and iso) reflect the mood, lightness or dimness of the respective days.
'Last Sun' was taken with a 35mm lens, iso 100, f.8 and 1/60.
'First Light' was taken with a 70-200mm lens, iso 160 (400 for the darkest shades), f.4 and 1/200.
No cropping (3x2) except occasional 4x3.
The last sliver of light at Vestrahorn. We almost didn't go as the sky was sooo bland, but it turned out much better than we had thought (or hoped for). If you've not been, it is a magical place and well worth the trip! 20221008 Vestrahorn 1v1
The Last Song.....
"One last song?" he asked quietly ....
"Sure" she said.....
As she played, he opened his eyes for the last time before smiling faintly ....she glanced at him, trying to keep the moment in her heart....and then he slowly drifted off and left.....no more pain....
Dedicated to someone very close to my heart who lost a long battle with cancer....rest peacefully.....💔❤️

Yarrow reaches for the sky on a November morning. There's many types of yarrow, all growing wild around here. But this variety is my favorite. It grows in bushes, is tall, sturdy, and the dried flowers stay on to provide cheerful color all winter long.

Last night
Can't remember
What happened?
Where'd we go?
I woke up
This morning..
Where's my car? Where's my keys? Where's my clothes?
I feel my head's still spinning
But I'm doing alright
'Cuz I think I just had the best night of my life.
Last night,
Can't remember
What happened? Did it happen? Last night
And did I get the chance to say that I wanted you to stay?
There's things I can't explain, 'cuz my brain don't work that way.
Don't call this a one night stand. No, it wasn't planned.
Wasn't in my head but I just wanna do it again and again and again just like...
