GLOT is an entrepreneur NGO that bet on languages as a mean of social change, it was found in Medellín-Colombia by Diana Suárez, Lina Restrepo and other partners that have had the opportunity to learn several languages (polyGLOTs), now it's our time to give back. That is why GRATITUDE is the word for the people who believe in our work and volunteer its time or make a donation, thanks to them we can bring about opportunities for personal growth through native and foreign language skill development at the community-based level and also opportunities for local NGO’s that has language barriers to apply to international cooperation funds. As TPP, they believe in our commitment to a better world and especially we all share a common and powerful language: LOVE.

This could be anywhere. It just happens to be near my workplace in Hull.

What is the Rosetta Stone?

The Rosetta Stone is a stone with writing on it in two languages (Egyptian and Greek), using three scripts (hieroglyphic, demotic and Greek).

Why is it in three different scripts?

The Rosetta Stone is written in three scripts because when it was written, there were three scripts being used in Egypt.

The first was hieroglyphic which was the script used for important or religious documents.

The second was demotic which was the common script of Egypt.

The third was Greek which was the language of the rulers of Egypt at that time.

The Rosetta Stone was written in all three scripts so that the priests, government officials and rulers of Egypt could read what it said.

When was the Rosetta Stone made?

The Rosetta Stone was carved in 196 B.C..

When was the Rosetta Stone found?

The Rosetta Stone was found in 1799.

Who found the Rosetta Stone?

The Rosetta Stone was found by French soldiers who were rebuilding a fort in Egypt.

Where was the Rosetta Stone found?

The Rosetta Stone was found in a small village in the Delta called Rosetta (Rashid).

The Rosetta Stone

Why is it called the Rosetta Stone?

It is called the Rosetta Stone because it was discovered in a town called Rosetta (Rashid).

What does the Rosetta Stone say?

The Rosetta Stone is a text written by a group of priests in Egypt to honour the Egyptian pharaoh. It lists all of the things that the pharaoh has done that are good for the priests and the people of Egypt.

Who deciphered hieroglyphs? Many people worked on deciphering hieroglyphs over several hundred years. However, the structure of the script was very difficult to work out.

After many years of studying the Rosetta Stone and other examples of ancient Egyptian writing, Jean-François Champollion deciphered hieroglyphs in 1822.

How did Champollion decipher hieroglyphs?

Champollion could read both Greek and coptic.

He was able to figure out what the seven demotic signs in coptic were. By looking at how these signs were used in coptic he was able to work out what they stood for. Then he began tracing these demotic signs back to hieroglyphic signs.

By working out what some hieroglyphs stood for, he could make educated guesses about what the other hieroglyphs stood for.

DZIA (Belgium) is an internationally acclaimed street artist whose distinctive visual language, known as Wild Lines, has secured him a prominent place within contemporary urban art. His large-scale murals and studio works have been presented from China to India, from Africa to the northernmost point of Europe, earning him recognition and respect across continents.

At the core of DZIA’s practice is a profound engagement with the natural world. His work is dominated by animal imagery—foxes, birds, insects, and other species—that function as totems and mirrors of human instinct.

Executed in dense networks of nervous strokes, his Wild Lines produce a dual effect: at close range they appear as chaotic abstractions, while from a distance they resolve into strikingly dynamic figures. This unique approach has become a hallmark of his oeuvre, widely recognized within both public space and institutional contexts.

“The wall dictates, I follow.”

DZIA’s career reflects an international trajectory, with murals commissioned worldwide as well as exhibitions, studio works, and limited editions that circulate through galleries and collections. His artist’s publications and fanzines further expand his practice, balancing the ephemeral nature of street art with more enduring formats.

“Painting in public space is a dialogue with the city.”

Through his art, DZIA positions animals not merely as subjects, but as symbols of resilience, vulnerability, and interconnection within fragile ecosystems. His practice underscores the urgent relevance of wildlife in a rapidly changing environment, bridging ecological awareness with artistic expression.

This photo was entered in an art contest entitled "Art: The Universal Language".

This contest is open to any Pennsylvania citizen with a disability. Contestants are limited to one entry.

Individuals with disabilities offer unique, diverse and valuable perspectives that all Pennsylvanians can benefit from

understanding.

Art: The Universal Language Art Contest is being held to recognize that ability exists along a spectrum. Each Pennsylvanian is differently-abled. Artistic ability and artistic expression offer unique opportunities for all Pennsylvanians to appreciate and understand the talents, skills and abilities of Pennsylvanians with disabilities.

A team of judges including Governor Tom Corbett and a panel from The Arc of Pennsylvania will award winners based on the following criteria: originality, imagination, visual interest and skillful use of materials.

My work of art pictured here is a close-up photograph of a pink rose bud with rain drops about to drip. It was taken with the camera on my Samsung Galaxy S Note II mobile phone which is mounted to my powered wheelchair. I used voice activation to take the original picture. I then edited the photo with Snapseed and Corel PaintShop Pro X4. I have always enjoyed photography, but have never before been able to take my own pictures. I have found a new level of independence and creative expression. I have discovered that I absolutely love taking close-up photos. I often loose track of time trying to find just the right zoom, background, setting, angle, lighting or coloring to highlight a subject's natural beauty or view it from an entirely different perspective. I hope to be able to sell my artwork some day.

UNICODE 5.1.0 meets Or-Omcode∞.1.0

Unicode represents the Tower ob Babel en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_Babel In computing, Unicode is an industry standard allowing computers to consistently represent and manipulate text expressed in most of the world's writing systems. Developed in tandem with the Universal Character Set standard and published in book form as The Unicode Standard, Unicode consists of a repertoire of more than 100,000 characters, a set of code charts for visual reference, an encoding methodology and set of standard character encodings, an enumeration of character properties such as upper and lower case, a set of reference data computer files, and a number of related items, such as character properties, rules for normalization, decomposition, collation, rendering and bidirectional display order (for the correct display of text containing both right-to-left scripts, such as Arabic or Hebrew, and left-to-right scripts). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UniCode

Speech-language and pathology students use hand puppets to help develop literacy skills in children at a Head Start center in Plymouth. Eighteen students from the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) chapter at Misericordia University helped promote early literacy skills when they conducted a special reading project at the Head Start New Street Center in Plymouth. The Misericordia students, all members of the five-year speech-language and pathology (SLP) program, read one-on-one with the children, ages 3 to 5, and provided them with a hand puppet and a book to take home.
