What is body language?

And how is it associated with furthering or else disrupting one’s communication skills?

Body language is the language that the body speaks to the eyes as either opposed to or conforming to the language that the tongue speaks to the ears.

Los Angeles-based artist Lisa Anne Auerbach has created a number of knit sweaters using slogans, songs and speech. The project is intended to encourage people to actively participate in the political process. Taking over where T-shirts left off, her sweaters combine textile design, careful craftsmanship and luxurious materials into objects that will endure long after the political battles have faded away. Auerbach’s practice also includes photography, self-published zines, and the Tract House, an ongoing project which has been exhibited at the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore and Philagrafika 2010, Philadelphia.

Work from the 'Language of the Future' project I did back in Uni. For my project I looked at three types of communication - between people (ie languages), between circuits and electronics, and biological between cells etc. I think this was my favourite project I did in my whole time there.

MudMan X at the Lakewood, NJ BlueClaws Stadium, is an event designed to reignite primitive instincts for survival and test the strength of those who are man enough, or woman enough to participate. The event consists of a series of brutal obstacles incorporating Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water….

I had intended to take photos at each of the numerous stations, but the first station I visited was named "The Shocker" which involved the participants crawling through a wooden tunnel half full of water and then having to run through an electrically charged grid consisting of electrified wires that are normally used to control fully grown bulls, cows, and horses.

For some reason, I found it very compelling to watch grown men getting shocked and crying out like little girls while many of the women were brought to tears, or at least, started yelling out blue language that made them sound like sailors! I spent the entire day taking pictures and watching the runners wince out in pain or cry out for help, and sometimes, plant their faces into the mud from the shock of the electricity going into their bodies.

Who doesn't love a little pain?
