Landscaping and designing project requires a lot of expertise. There are umpteen factors that you have to keep in mind to produce the best landscaping solutions.

The client wanted to create a design for the property that reflected their personality. They spend a lot of time at home - works from home, has 5 teenagers (plus friends) that stay at home. Priority was a pool with a swim up bar. They liked the idea of Tiki torches and a wood burning fire pit. There is a need for multiple, separate living spaces with seating, The like entertaining, playing, and being outside. They would like to include landscape lighting and plantings to soften and make the are cozier. There is a need and a want for a wrap around deck, outdoor kitchen and front walkway.

Project was placed on hold and we will keep you posted when homeowner finishes process and does installation.

Client built a beautiful house overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Phase 1 included plantings; gravel path; front walkway using Outdoor Living by Belgard Mega Arbel with a Laffit border; stepper path; Belair wall; large boulder for address plate; rear patio using Belgard Rustic slab with Laffit border; veneer wall with a tumbled bluestone cap; and added same cap to existing driveway wall. Cannot wait for Phase 2.

This week's theme was architecture and I just never found time to go and visit appropriate buildings. So I gave up and took a photo of a landscape design. This was drawn for my garden in 2000 just after I moved in to my current house. I was lucky that I had ~20 designs drawn by the landscape design students. This was one of the best.

Concept #2 - The client was looking to design her backyard into a private little vacation area. She was looking to install a Versacourt basketball court with bench seating. Terraced living spaces - deck and patio. A pool with a waterfall or vanishing edge was on the list. The client also wanted the design to include: privacy, fence, picnic area, outdoor kitchen, entertainment area under the deck, lighting and simple plantings

Working in collaboration with Eric Parry Architects and Latz + Partner, LUC was selected by Saxon Generali Real Estate to design a roof garden at One Fen Court, a new 17-storey mixed-use development at the heart of the City cluster in the City of London.

LUC’s services included planting design, pre-selection and specification, planning and inspection to deliver the soft landscape for the building’s 2,200m2 rooftop terrace. The garden, which is fully accessible to the public, sits 65m above street level and offers 360o views across London’s skyline.

The roof garden is designed to include all the best aspects of a public space whilst integrating building services and energy efficiency requirements. It provides a refreshingly tranquil escape from the dense City cluster and streets below. Our scheme sensitively combines seasonal herbaceous planting with exposure-tolerant and evergreen grasses, vines and espalier fruit. Its centrepiece is a grove of 88 wisteria supported on a pergola, providing shade, scent and shelter to the roof terrace.

As the visitor moves around the garden the quality of light changes with the aspect and the time of day and season. Moving water on the southern edge of the roof provides relief during warm spells.

“It’s gone beyond our expectations, simply because it has a wow factor that we were hoping for but we didn’t dare dream of.” Tina Paillet, Senior Executive at Generali Real Estate
