I was sitting at The Point on Edisto Beach watching and hoping for some dolphin action when this gull landed ever so gently, right in front of me. It was like slow motion and I snapped the shutter just as his landing gear made contact.
(I'm not very familiar with gulls. Can anybody help with an ID?)

For such a big bird the Australian Pelican can be amazingly graceful in flight. The take off may be a little ungainly but the soaring and landing is something to behold. They are the Boeing 747s of the bird world.

Brother was kind enough to show me a Bald Eagle nest and low and behold, the pair was there.. Didn't take long before they started circling to let us know we were getting too close... So not wanting to disturb them, we grabbed a few shots while the light was good and left them alone after a few minutes... Always a beautiful sight to see these raptors take to the sky...
