I know flowers are overrepresented on Flickr, but some are just so cool. :-)

These Cape Daisies aren't unusual in Southern California, either. They're ubiquitous as drought-tolerant ground cover. In addition to the blazing yellow color here (straight out of the camera) I really like the white-spotted black splotches that must be like airport landing lights to a pollinating insect.

I was sitting at The Point on Edisto Beach watching and hoping for some dolphin action when this gull landed ever so gently, right in front of me. It was like slow motion and I snapped the shutter just as his landing gear made contact.

(I'm not very familiar with gulls. Can anybody help with an ID?)
