The 2014 annual JETS (Journeys in Engineering, Technology and Science) Landing day event at Gaithersburg Middle School was held on May 1st. The event began with a meal for students and their families, followed by a hands-on science expo in the gymnasium and several fun classroom sessions throughout the evening. JETS serves to energize Montgomery County middle schoolers about careers in science and technology through the use of interactive activities and demonstrations, while relating the material to the MCPS science curriculum.

I did not take this photo. It is from a postcard/ promo piece. The Landing is where I used to duck out during services at Kehilath Israel Synagogue during the rabbi's sermons. Had to go to find out what the "Top 40 Survey" would contain and especially who was #1. Found this photo on a FB site about "Old KC"
Derwentwater landing stages. And boat. Another from Christmas. Camera's still in for repair. It's been 6 weeks now.

Not far from the mouth of the Boyne River, in Co.Louth,Ireland this former Allied Landing Craft rusts slowly into oblivion. I suspect that it was used to lay an outfall pipe well out into the sea when the factory behind it was built in the 1970's but cannot confirm this. Photos taken 09-05-2010
