Transport via the waterways of Suisun Marsh played a vital role in the early settlement of Solano County. This is the former site of Rush Landing on Suisun Slough. We see the Vaca Mountains in the background.
Hiram and Sarah Rush headed a pioneer family who crossed the plains in the 1850’s, originally settling in the Sacramento area, and then in the 1860’s establishing Rush Ranch. In addition to his livestock operation, Hiram also grew grain in the Potrero Hills, built the three-story Mason's building in Suisun City, and erected Rush Landing on the Suisun Slough for the shipment of farm products by boat to San Francisco.

The Vaca Mountains are one of the most prominent landmarks of Solano County, with a steep ridge on the east side that rises abruptly 1,000 feet (305 m) or more above the foothills below. The range begins at Suisun Marsh in a broad, low-elevation saddle that also contains the city of Fairfield and Travis Air Force Base, and separates the mountains to the northwest from an outlier of low hills called the Montezuma Hills. The Vaca Mountains then trend 17.5 miles (28 km) to the north and end at Putah Creek Canyon. The average width of the range is about 5.5 miles (9 km), with an area of 61,775 acres (250 km2) that is mostly undeveloped. Mt. Vaca at an elevation 2,818 feet (859 m) is the highest summit, and the high point of Solano County, but the backbone of the range is the Blue Ridge, a prominent ridgetop that maintains an elevation of over 1,900 feet (579 m) for several miles.

ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet landed on the steppe of Kazakhstan on 2 June 2017 with Russian commander Oleg Novitsky in their Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft after six months in space. Touchdown was at 14:10 GMT after a four-hour flight from the International Space Station.
Thomas spent six months on the International Space Station as part of his Proxima mission. During Proxima, Thomas took part in 60 scientific experiments for ESA and France’s space agency CNES and the international Station partners.
The mission is part of ESA’s vision to use Earth-orbiting spacecraft as a place to live and work for the benefit of European society while using the experience to prepare for future voyages of exploration further into the Solar System.

I left Pakistan early on the morning of the 19th, for my first flight into Europe, my first trip abroad, landing in Europe on April 19, 1987. It was an incredible April to June trip.
I promised I would return, and I did, visiting France, and Spain, at other times in the past few years.
But, I had not previously made it to Holland, even though I had passed through Schipol, Amsterdam, during my trip to Barcelona, Spain, (ironically with a Dutch born then GF).
By the grace of God, I took a flight that left USA on the evening of the 18th, when it was EXACTLY the same time in Pakistan EXACTLY 25 Years after my first international flight, to again travel to Europe on the same exact date as my first trip.
April 19, 1987. April 19, 2012. Exactly 25 years later, I am back to commemorate that awesome chapter in my life.
God is kind and has blessed me with an incredible journey, every step of the way, Please keep me in your prayers. May we all meet and celebrate such anniversaries another 25 years from now. Amen.

Spent a few hours over at Robin Hood airport today.......the Vulcan made a quick trip to Duxford to display, so we waited there for her to come back. Its always a real social time, lovely people go and it makes you realise how lucky we are to have this amazing sight on our doorstep.
I went over to the main road to get some overhead shots and feel the whoosh of the plane passing over .......it was brilliant!
Need wide angle lens next time:))

This Lufthansa flight is very close to land on 26R at EDDM. Taken from the head of the runway, close to the fence.
Our hot air balloon hovering over fields near its landing zone awaiting the retrieval crew who (you can't see them) are heading towards us through the rows to drag us back towards the farm houses.
The other balloons are just taking off.
We are about 12' off the ground here.

After a meal at a local pub we visited a jetty on the north banks of Coniston Water. This was taken using a 8 stop ND grad to smooth out the lake surface
The mighty Mississippi River is way back near the tree line in this photo. This is Richardson's Landing, which is a gravel bar along the river. During rainy times anywhere north of this area, the Mississippi River swells to cover the landing. When the river recedes, it leaves behind a huge collection of gravels, including agates, banded chert, jasper, petrified wood, small druzy geodes, and other treasures. Many of the agates found along this gravel bar are Lake Superior agates, transported all the way from the Great Lakes to Memphis by the Mississippi River.

Coming in for a landing at the Toronto Island airport for a series of week long meetings in the area. I had been dreading this week for the 365 for quite a while. A week of indoor meetings is not very conducive for good photography. This gift was a good start to the week.

Schwabachers Landing is a boat landing located a few miles south of Snake River Overlook, along the east shore of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, U.S.. The boat landing is located off the combined U.S. Route 26/89/187, 5 miles (16 km) north of the park's main headquarters at Moose, Wyoming. The landing is accessed via a dirt road immediately north of Moose and is impassable in the winter. Fishermen, canoeists and rafters use the landing to gain access to the Snake River, and it is one of four locations in Grand Teton National Park where the river is easily accessed. Wildlife including moose, pronghorn, mule deer and bald eagles are commonly seen in the immediate vicinity of the landing. Above the landing, along the main highway, some of the finest vistas of the Teton Range, are available and a number of excellent images have been painted and photographed from that vantage point.
