37688 thrashes through Newton Abbot station with the 5Z41 09.00 Laira - Crewe HS stock move returning the unused Locomotive Services Ltd coaches. They had been sent to Laira following the short temporary withdrawal of most of the GWR IET sets at the beginning of May. I would have preferred a more scenic location with the superb sunshine but work dictated otherwise. Luckily I was working in Newton Abbot so grabbed this shot with my compact on my tea break.

LSL Class 37/5 No.37521 opens up through Ipswich on 31st October 2023 working 5Z21 10:25 Great Yarmouth-Eastleigh Arlington hauling three ex DRS Mk2's No.6173,No.6046 and No.5919.
Indiana & Ohio SD40-2 4085 with the Lima South Local is about the hit the diamond with the branch to Mechanicsburg at Lagonda on the northeast side of Springfield. An old tilting target signal still protects this junction of the branch with the former Detroit Toledo & Ironton (which the train is on). Both lines are operated by the I&O today.

LSL's first HST charter set "Midland Pullman" moved back to Eastleigh today for some more work. All 8 Mk3s feature 1st Class accommodation. Additionally all the Mk3s are ex GWR stock so this move see's them back on home turf so to speak.

Since the arrival of LSL's Class 57, No 57003 in early October, it has not been easy to established initially what workings and how it was going to operate on the Bootle Branch line with the biomass trains. Anyway, after some initial training, the loco was going to haul the biomass trains from the docks with a rear loco for assistance to Tuebrook Sidings. The rear loco then becomes the train loco to Drax. I took a chance hoping the Class 57 would be on 6E10 and headed to Edge Lane Junction (Pique Lane bridge) knowing the sun would be just about in the right place. To my relief, the outline of No 57003 appeared from under the background bridge heading 6E10 11.10hrs Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Aes biomass. Happy days! 28th October 2022.

Looking smart in LNWR-style lined black livery, 57002 passes Sydney Gardens, Bath, with the LSL 'Chairman's Train', a private charter running as 1Z29, 10:42 Paddington-Kingswear on 17 April, 2025. The loco had been named ‘Winston Churchill’ before departing from Paddington, but the nameplate and plaque on this side remained covered at this stage.
