AG-330 ENGINE START CART
The AG-330 engine start cart used two Chevrolet LS-7 454 cubic inch V-8 automobile engines, with 465 horsepower each, to turn a drive shaft directly connected to the starter mechanism on the SR-71's J58 turbojets. Each engine required its own cart. The start cart's job was to mechanically spin the aircraft's turbines up to a minimum of 3,200 revolutions per minute before the engines could be ignited and begin to run on their own.
Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird
Serial Number 61-7951
Current Markings: US Air Force, Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale, California
The SR-71 on display is the second one built and the oldest survivor. It was rolled off the assembly line October 20, 1964 and first flew March 5, 1965. Used as a systems test bed it flew primarily from Palmdale, California. In 1971, this plane was loaned to NASA to replace a YF-12 that had been lost in an accident. In order to disguise the fact that NASA was flying one of the still highly classified SR-71s the plane was redesignated as a YF-12C and given the serial number 60-6937. Ironically this is actually the serial number of one of the CIA's still top-secret A-12s. In October 1978, the Blackbird was returned to the Air Force and given its original number back.
Only two months later it was retired to storage at Palmdale. With the retirement of the SR-71 from Air Force service in 1990, Blackbirds became available for museum displays and the U.S. Air Force Museum allocated 61-7951 to the Pima Air and Space Museum. The serial number 64-17951 has often been erroneously attributed to this aircraft. This confusion is likely due to the United States Air Force often changing the serial numbers on the Blackbirds to obscure the actual number of SR-71s in their inventory.

The classic British Racing Green paint scheme is not as eye catching as the schemes in our other recent builds but it is simply beautiful. Again, it's difficult to do this car justice through photos. You have to experience it in person to fully appreciate it, especially the roar of the motor. Coupled with the elegant tan leather interior, it has to be one of the best chassis that we have built to date.

In the middle of the 19th century there were eleven pubs in North Street - now there is just the Eagle Tavern.
But the Eagle Tavern pre-dates even Queen Victoria. This fine old building is actually the Georgian original and started life as a private house. It became a beerhouse in 1832, following the famous "Wellington Beerhouse Act" which halved the tax on beer, and allowed anyone of good character to obtain a licence for just two guineas. Within ten years of the act being passed, the number of pubs in Leeds doubled from 270 to 545.
The Eagle was first known as the Builders Inn - after the profession of its first owner - and changed its name to The Ordnance, owing to its proximity to the Leeds Cavalry Barracks. It later became the Golden Eagle, and finally the Eagle Tavern.
The Eagle, like so many older pubs, is reputedly haunted. The tale is that a spirit inhabits a room on the top floor - but it is supposedly quite benign, and though its presence has been occasionally felt, it has never interrupted anyone's sleep...
