The fourth-generation F-body continued the aerodynamic formula initiated by the previous generation, but saw declining sales. As before, the Camaro kept the exposed headlights and the Firebird its pop-up units, with some minor changes.

For 1998–2002 Pontiac used the same heavy duty brakes, steering ratios, fuel pumps and shocks (non-WS6) on both V6 and V8 models.

From 1998-02 the Firebird received a mild facelift, changes include a new hood and front fascia with dual intakes, retracting quad halogen headlights, circular turnsignal and fog lamps, a front license plate pocket, lower fender air vents, unified-style lower door raised lettering for each trim level, and a new "honeycomb" rear light panel, . The all-aluminum 5.7 L V8 engine was sourced from the Corvette C5, and produced 305 hp (227 kW) at 5,200 rpm; 335 ft·lbf (454 N·m) at 4,000 rpm, (310 after 2000) or 320 hp (325 after 2000) in the WS-6 "Ram Air" version. In 2001 and 2002, models equipped with a V8 received the high-flow LS6 intake manifold and a high-performance clutch. A Firehawk model, produced by SLP and sold through Pontiac dealerships, had 330 hp (335 after 2000, 345 in late 2002 models equipped with the optional Blackwing intake. The V6-equipped Firebirds were rated at 231.9 hp

'70 or '71 Chevrolet Chevelle "Day Two" muscle car. Chevelle's remain popular among muscle car enthusiasts with the best of the bunch being the SS454 with the LS6 454ci big-block Chevy. These cars were unbeatable on the street. This one was immediately modified with headers, custom wheels, tunnel ram intake, dual 4bbl carbs, and traction bars on the second day being home from the dealer (referred to as "day two' modifications). I hope you enjoy this one, it was fun to build and try to figure out the rear quarter shaping.I took a few liberties here, the main one being the single instead of dual headlights, I just couldn't find a solution I liked for dual headlights at this scale.

An old photograph taken next to the Wellington Street Coach Station with Concourse House (aka Apsley House) as the background of Leeds City Tramways (LCT) railcar No. 602 showing '20 - Halton' destination blinds and Crosville Motor Services (CMS) coach No. CUG308 (registration OFM680) showing 'Crosville - Private' destination blinds.

MODERN DAY VIEW.

The photograph is stamped on the reverse as it having been taken by Robert F. Mack.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LCT No. 602 was built by Leeds based company C. H. Roe accommodating 70 passenger ( 34 seating & 36 standing) and running on Maley & Taunton type HS44 bogies. It was delivered to LCT in Feb 1953, then being extensively tested before going into passenger service (along with sister car No. 601) in a purple livery especially for the Queens Coronation on 01 June.
In Sep 1957 both cars were withdrawn after the closure of Moortown and Dewsbury Road tram routes, then going into storage at Swinegate and staying there until after the Leeds tramways system closed in Nov 1959.
In Apr 1960 No. 602 was bought by the 'Railcar Preservation Society' and the following month moved to Crich where it is currently on display in the exhibition hall. No. 601 was bought by the 'Middleton Railway Preservation Society' who unfortunately stored it outside at the Middleton Railway, and in common with some other trams for preservation that were stored there was vandalised past the point of being able to be saved, it was dismantled and the remains burned in Feb 1964.
A full history of No's. 601 & 602 can be found in 'Leeds Transport', V 4, p 1433, by Jim Soper and for No. 602 on the Crich web site at the following link.
CRICH HISTORY OF NO. 602.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

No. CUG308 was new to CMS in Nov 1952 comprising a Bristol LS6G chassis No. 89.082 and Eastern Coach Works body No. 5768 seating 39 (C39F), when new it had fleet No. UG308 but in May 1958 it was changed to CUG308. In 1960 the body designation was changed from 'coach' to 'bus', changing the body code to B39F, it also got fitted 'jack knife' doors and bus type indicators at the same time. It was changed to one man operation (OMO) in 1966 and just three years later was withdrawn from service, being purchased in Jun 1970 by Martin Son after which I have no further information.

Chevrolet Chevelle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Chevrolet Chevelle is a mid-sized automobile which was produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1978 model years.

Part of the General Motors (GM) A-Body platform, the Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates. Body styles include coupes, sedans, convertibles and station wagons. Super Sport versions were produced through the 1973 model year, and Lagunas from 1973 through 1976.

After a three-year absence, the El Camino was reintroduced as part of the new Chevelle lineup.

The Chevelle also provided the platform for the Monte Carlo introduced in 1970.

The Malibu, the top of the line model through 1972, replaced the Chevelle nameplate for the redesigned, downsized 1978 models."

(...)

- First generation (1964–1967).

"The Chevelle was intended to compete with the Ford Fairlane, and Plymouth Belvedere, and to return to the Chevrolet lineup a model similar in size and concept to the popular 1955-57 models." (...)

- Second generation (1968–1972).

"The 1968 Chevelle got an all-new distinctly sculpted body with tapered front fenders and a rounded beltline. The car adopted a long-hood/short-deck profile with a high rear-quarter "kick-up"."

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

"In 1970, sheetmetal revisions gave the bodies a more squared-up stance following the coke bottle styling, interiors were also redesigned too.

The 1970 Chevelle shared many sheet metal body parts with the 1970 Buick Skylark GSX, both are GM automobiles and have interchangeable sheet metal.

They're also the only 2 high performance muscle cars to share the same roofline.

The 1970 Chevelle came in sport coupe, sport sedan, convertible, four-door sedan, a couple of wagons, and coupé utility (the El Camino) body styles. Only 3 of these (Malibu sport coupe, Malibu convertible and El Camino pickup) were available with a choice of one of 2 SS options; RPO Z25 with the SS 396 (402 cid) engine and RPO Z15 with the new 454 cid engine.

The base model was now simply called Chevelle (which causes confusion) in lieu of the former base 300 Deluxe, and was only as a Sport Coupe or four-door sedan."

(...)

"The SS 396 Chevelle included a 350 horsepower (260 kW) Turbo-Jet 396 V8, special suspension, "power dome" hood, black-accented grille, resilient rear-bumper insert, and wide-oval tires on sport wheels.

Though a 375 horsepower (280 kW) cowl induction version was available, few were sold in favor of the newly introduced 454 engine in the October/November 1969 timeframe."

(...)

New Sheet Metal Front/Rear design

"The 1971 Chevelles got fresh front-end and rear-end styling that included large Power-Beam single-unit headlights, a reworked grille and bumper, and integral park/signal/marker lights. New dual round taillights were integral with the back bumper. Because SS models suffered heavy insurance surcharges, Chevrolet introduced the "Heavy Chevy" at midyear, which was based on the base Chevelle, and was available with any V8 engine except the 454, which was exclusive to SS models."

- Third generation (1973–1977).

"The most extensive redesign in its 10-year history marked the 1973 Chevelle. Due to concern over proposed Federal rollover standards, convertible and 4-door hardtop models were discontinued, while the 2-door hardtop was replaced by a pillared coupe—named "Colonnade Hardtop"."
