Today's photo is of a LP (or "Low Precipitation") supercell on June 9, 2009, near Dodge City, Kansas, This is a storm that started out like a classic supercell before transitioning into this beautiful LP. At frame center, you can see the inflow base with slight lowering. To the right, you can see a precipitation core quite far from the updraft base. Just beautiful structure.

The dude is still alive at 84 (UPDATE: Gerry passed away in 2017). Did caricatures for MAD Magazine, NY Times, TIME, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, you name it.

Disney LP no date, no credit to illustrator but I think its Mary Blair- the girl's feet give it away for me. I'm guessing the late '50s for the paint texture and children's cool cat clothing. Anyone else have info or a guess on this one? thanks HH
