Located within the Arun Valley in West Sussex, Pulborough Brooks has beautiful views across to the South Downs and is set in one of the richest areas for nature in the country. The nature reserve has a great variety of habitats. The lowland wet grassland is part of the Arun Valley floodplain and is criss crossed by ditches which host rare plants. The grassland, pools and scrapes provide feeding areas for wintering wildfowl and nesting areas for wading birds. On higher ground there are wildflower meadows and arable fields for winter finches. These are linked by hedgerows and scrub to woodland areas, all of which are vital for nesting songbirds, small mammals and bats.

Located on the banks of the Calonne (a small watercourse), the church of Fontaine-la-Louvet, of Romanesque origin (not visible in the picture), was rebuilt in the 15th century in stone and flint. From the Romanesque period, only the apse remains. To the north are two chapels from the first half of the 16th century, with stone and flint chequerboard walls (but this is the south side). The large bays also date from the 16th century. The rectangular windows were drilled in the 17th century. The entrance gate, placed to the west, is sheltered by a half-timbered porch from the 16th century. Many villages of Eure have horrible red street lanterns. They destroy every photo. That's why I desaturated them.

Located on the northern end of Kailua Bay which I mentioned in an earlier posting is Mokapu Point on the island of Oahu, Mokapu Point is itself a portion of the former caldera of the prehistoric Ko’olau Volcano. This image taken from Kailua Beach. Mokapu Point lies within the confines of the Marine Corps Base Hawaii and is off limits except to military or for authorized biological studies of the Red-Footed Boobies who have a colony there and other wildlife. Even though not evident here, when out in the water in our kayak paddling towards the Mokes, the caldera formation is very evident from further out in the water unfortunately it is the ocean so I was unable to capture a steady shot from the kayak of the caldera rim as we were in the ocean the waters were not very conducive to pausing the paddling, stopping and framing an image. - - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot @oahu_hawaiii @visit.hawaii #oahu #mokapu

Bad Ems, Germany, located at the Lahn river is a traditional resort town with a lot of buildings from the Emperors time at the beginning of the 20th century. Because of good relations to the Russian Tsar at the beginnings of the 20th Century a lot of Russian citizens stayed here for bathing and wellness. One sign of this is the Russian-Orthodox church which you see here at the Lahn river.

I captured this rare visitor to Michigan last Saturday evening. I had heard a bunch of rumbling while I was at work that one had showed up at the beach in one of our local metro parks. When I got off work, me and my wife went to mass and after words headed over to the park. We located him out on the beach. He allowed me to photograph him without being spooked for a little bit. I spent about 10 min rattling off a bunch of images and then left him alone. Figured he needed some food and rest for the rest of his journey.

He was standing just on shore when this little wave came in and splashed off of him.

Towering above the desert in the middle of New Zealand's north island, breathtaking Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano and highest peak with unimpeded, awe inspiring views reaching all the way to the coast. The remarkable alpine terrain is capped off by its own crater lake, warmed by volcanic activity, steaming at the summit. Mount Ruapehu is enjoyed year round by hikers, skiers, snowboarders, botanists, geologists and nature lovers alike.

As a live volcano, there will always be some risk of both eruptions and lahar flow on Mount Ruapehu. To mitigate that risk for outdoor enthusiasts, precautionary measures including sophisticated early warning systems are in place. The last major eruption was in 1996 and the last lahar was in March 2007.

As I was rummaging through the giftshop in the nearby visitor centre, I happened to open a book with B&W

apocalyptic picture of this hotel with a giant eruption cloud right behind it! How is this place still standing and smiling as it never happened? A little moment that made me realise how resilient the New Zealanders must be!

The Gulf Tower is a 44-story, 177.4 m (582 ft) Art Deco skyscraper in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[5] The tower is one of the major distinctive and recognizable features of the city and is named for the Gulf Oil Corporation, which was one of the leading multinational oil companies of its time, consistently ranking among the largest 10 corporations in the country. In 1984, Gulf and Chevron took part in the world's largest merger ($13.3 billion or $32.7 billion today) to that time.

Built as the headquarters for the Gulf Oil Company, and known as the Gulf Building, the structure was designed by the firm of Trowbridge & Livingston and completed in 1932 at a cost of $10.05 million ($153.8 million today). As late as 1981 Gulf Oil employed 3,100 within the building.[6] Now called Gulf Tower, it has 44 floors and rises 177.4 m (582 ft) above Downtown Pittsburgh. The crown of the skyscraper is modeled after the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus in the style of a step pyramid. 146

Located on the outskirts of Aomori, Japan, at the foot of the Hakkoda Mountains, Seiryū-ji (青龍寺) Temple has extensive beautiful grounds and buildings. It's famous for having the largest colossal seated bronze figure of Buddha in Japan. Many of the paths are lined with flowers, I believe this a type of hydrangea that has a cluster of small blossoms surrounded by larger ones.

Located on the same grounds as Humayun's Tomb, Isa Khan Niyazi's Tomb is similar to Tomb of Muhammad Shah which is located in the Lodi Gardens also in Delhi, India. It was surely the inspiration for this tomb. Both are octagonal in shape with three arched entryways on each side, both have large central domes with smaller domed gazebos around it.

—from Wikipedia

Several monuments dot the pathway leading up to the enclosure around Humayun's Tomb from the main entrance in the West. Prominent among them is one that pre-dates the main tomb itself, by twenty years. Constructed in 1547 CE, it is the tomb complex of Isa Khan Niyazi, an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suri's court of the Sur Empire, who fought against the Mughals. The octagonal tomb is positioned within an octagonal garden, which was built during his own lifetime and the reign of Islam Shah Suri, son of Sher Shah. It later served as a burial place for the entire family of Isa Khan.

Malin Head (Irish: Cionn Mhálanna) is located on the Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal, Republic of Ireland and is the most northerly point of the island of Ireland. The northernmost tip is the headland named Banba's Crown located at latitude 55.38ºN. Malin Head gives its name to the Malin sea area. There is a weather station on the head, which is one of 22 such stations whose reports are broadcast as part of the BBC Shipping Forecast.

Ptolemy's Geography (2nd century AD) described a point called Βορειον (Boreion, "the northern") which probably referred to Malin Head.

Banba's Crown on Malin Head is the most northerly point of the Irish mainland. Banba was one of the mythical queens of Ireland. Banba's Crown is about 16 km (10 mi) north of the village of Malin. The island of Inishtrahull is further north, located approximately 10 km (6 mi) north east of Malin Head. Further north still is the most northerly landfall of Ireland, Tor Beg rock.

Malin Head is home to small businesses such as pubs, restaurants, shops and a large call centre called Forward Emphasis International, which employs many of the local residents.
