Located on the western edge of the Eyjafjöll volcano, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall comes from the Seljalandsá river, which is formed by the melting ice of the Eyjafjallajökull. Once it reaches the edge of the plateau, the water falls into the void over a chasm for around 65 metres.

It is located on the top of Mount Erice, in an absolutely privileged position.

In ancient times, Erice was known for its temple, the sacred thémenos, where the Phoenicians adored Astarte, the Greeks Aphrodite and the Romans Venus.

Mount Eryx served as a reference point for navigators of whom Venus soon became the protector.

At night, a large fire lit in the sacred area served as a lighthouse. The fame of Venus Ericina became such that a temple was also dedicated to her in Rome and her cult spread throughout the Mediterranean.

What remains today of the ancient fortress was the work of the Normans who seem to have reused, for its construction, the material coming from the reconstruction of the pagan temple.

In ancient times, the castle was enclosed by towers, advanced fortification works connected to each other by two crenellated curtains and above all by a drawbridge.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Stunning Glaciers

Located in the southern Andes and on the border between Argentina and Chile. The mountain is in between two national parks - Nahuel Huapi Park in the Argentine provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén and Vicente Pérez Rosales Park in the province of Llanquihue, Chile.

The mountain’s name comes from the Spanish word for thunder, a reference to the sound that the breaking ice glaciers make. It is 3,554 metres (11,660 feet) above sea level, towering over the surrounding Nahuel Huapi Park mountains. Mount Tronador has seven glaciers which are melting because of global warming.

Mount Tronador is Bariloche's highest mountain. Leaving from downtown, the famous National Route 40 took us south along the banks of lakes Gutiérrez and Mascardi until the intersection with Provincial Route 82.

Along the way there are stunning views of mounts Bonete and Cresta de Gallo, and we got visit one the shores of Mascardi lake. Turning right after leaving Villa Mascardi and followed a road surrounded by native forests. This area of breathtaking beauty is visited every year by mountaineers and fishing enthusiasts because it is home to the renowned Los Moscos lake and Manso river, which leads to Hess lake.

Once we reached Manso river (a river that flows from the top of Mount Tronador and changes colors along the way,) we stopped at Los Rápidos bridge to watch the trout in crystal-clear water. If you're lucky, you might also see a kingfisher, we did not.

The winding road goes up until the highest point. From there, we saw the higher valley of Manso river at its fullest, with its twisting course and green-colored water. We kept going, we reached Pampa Linda, a nice place with accommodation and food facilities. From there, we took the road to the base of the mountain where we found a cafeteria and enjoyed an incredible view of the other glaciers on Mount Tronador.

The ascent continues until the last viewpoint along the route, Ventisquero Negro, a glacier that comes down from Mount Tronador and stands out because of its dark color. On our way back we took a small detour that took us to the 30-meter (98 foot) Los Alerces waterfall.

Located in the block limited by V.A. O’ Connor, 12 de Octubre, Beschedt, Frey and Palacios. A neo-gothic construction, the Cathedral stands in a neatly arranged park, with pictoresque paths and a playground. It opened in 1946, and Alejandro Bustillo was the genius that created this stone and concrete architecture, and charged nothing for his services.

Located south of Winchester Bay, OR, this area is home to the tallest sand dunes in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Umpqua Beach #2 Day Use and OHV Staging Area provides parking and access for pedestrian beach access as well as off-highway vehicle (OHV) staging for open sand riding opportunities in the Umpqua (ump - kwah) dunes. A ride to the top of a tall dune offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

We were over in the area to view the King Tides, which didn't appear this day. So we filled our time exploring the many back roads along the coast and beaches we had never seen before. The day was a bit windy and rain rolled through occasionally, but this just added to "charm" of the place. After a little research I found that Oregon choose to plant European Beach Grass because it could withstand the Oregon weather better.

Phra Nang Beach is located between East and West Railay Beach on the Railay Peninsula.

Wikipedia: Railay, also known as Rai Leh, is a small peninsula between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand. It is accessible only by boat due to high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Accommodation ranges from bungalows and medium-priced resorts in East Railay to a collection of luxury resorts focused on West Railay, though one, Royavadee, spans both waterfronts and also has a beachfront restaurant at Ao Phra Nang. The four main areas of Railay consist of Phra Nang, West Railay, East Railay, and Ton Sai. Ton Sai caters to climbers and the backpacker set and is more rustic than the glitz of West Railay and the shops and restaurants of the East Railay boardwalk.

The western part of this redevelopment area was left basically untouched, to let nature regain the former depot alone, this serves now as an ecological park.

Noudar Natural Park is located in a farm estate called Herdade da Coitadinha, between the rivers Ardila and Múrtega, in southern Alentejo (Portugal) .

The pastures surrounding the area, holm oak and olive groves, grazing cows and herds of black pigs are all common to neighbouring farms in this region. But here, a more abrupt and rocky relief has protected dense enclaves of holm oaks and forest where light penetrates with difficulty.

In Noudar, life presents itself in a state of wilderness and absolute purity.

Apart from its beauty, the place, being remote and exempt from any light pollution, is excellent for astrophotography (the best where I’ve ever been).

The Castle of Noudar dates from the early 14th century (finished in 1307), when it took an important role for border defense against the kingdom of Castile (now part of Spain).

The complex of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - a unique architectural construction. Christ the Savior Cathedral - upper temple; Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord - lower temple; Patriarchal Museum of religious art; Viewing platforms at a height of 40 m; Refectory; Several halls and choirs.

and unfortunate truth: for the temple allocated only 3697.27 square meters (7% of the total area). the rest of the lion part of the territory leased to the companies ... that are not associated with religion.

Located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, this river has a particular beauty, its waters are not transparent, it has a brownish color, and I think that's why it is even more beautiful. This photo was taken from an iPhone X on a trip I took in 2018. For tourists (like me), it's very worthwhile to take the boat trip to navigate this river, and visit the islands and fishing village that are in the path. I found this house in the woods of a small island within this river interesting.
