Another levitation photo my daughter and I did. She nixed the cemetery though and we compromised for next to it being in the background. Have I mentioned she has really gotten into photography too?
A few things I kinda messed up on this one but I know for next time, I'm probably the only one who can pick them out, lol. This was our second attempt at levitation.

This is my first try at the whole levitation thing. I broke a sweat doing this one :-)

Eu estou adorando essa tendência levitate, e amei também essa sessão que fiz hoje. Sou abençoada de viver perto de um lago assim *-*
Dropping by Oliphant to check out kite boarding action late this afternoon, I was chatting with one fellow who told me we were too late - earlier, when the wind was at it's peak, there were as many as 40 kites in the air. These two guys seemed to be comparing notes while the kite, securely tethered to it's owner, appeared to levitate by itself in the breeze.
Another attempt at levitation, this time with the more challenging transition to horizontal flight. Marks awarded for partial success.
With thanks to Helen
What was it David Bailey use to say about black and white? He said 'black and white strips everything back, so you can actually 'see' the image.

CF006448-Edit2 - with thanks to Rachel Marquez
Such a relief to get back to one of my favourite themes, as I have been so busy doing other stuff.
This is Rachel Marquez, a very talented actress and model from Alaska who kindly agreed to appear in one of my shots. In addition to Rachel, I originally intended to shoot myself or someone else walking by with their head down, overcoat, carrying a briefcase and just ignoring the strange floating figure - a visual analogy to the plight of loneliness which I feel is very prevalent in today's society. However, I wanted someone slightly thinner and more photographically suitable than me! I don't know anyone really! So, I got the image back and felt there was enough to work on without the other figure, but it is something I might revisit at some point.
Mamiya AFD II with 55mm lens. The interior 'stage/setting' is shot with two images blended by hand. PS said 'no, no' so there was quite a lot of fudging the perspective particularly the two circular lights. Rachel and background are lit with a octagonal soft box 600 wt light, cam left back at mid power pointing away. Rachel has a 500 wt lamp with a snoot which appeared just in frame on the right and was cloned out (in the big glass window). I think the setting was full power. Before export to PS, I put the images through Dfine 2 which tidied up the noise a treat.

I've been looking at and admiring the work of the following artists: Richard Tuschman, Gregory Crewdson, Tom Blachford and here on flickr: Arnab Ghosal: www.flickr.com/photos/arnabkghosal/
with this image:
All these artists offer completely unique views of life, but there is one common thread, they are sometimes shooting at twilight (some of Richard's) and emphasis is placed on the human condition (except Tom's work I realise!). Anyway, have a look. There are some exceptional images to look at.

Nikon / Canon Photographer Levitation
My friend Richard Keele and I did a levitation shot today. Behind the scenes on flickr.

I was going for a shot of a running hare with its legs stretched out - I got plenty but something was always wrong with them - hidden behind grass, blurred face, just out of frame...this was the next best thing I managed so I won't complain too much.
No better harbinger of spring than a newborn lamb...
I knew they could jump, but I never knew they played leapfrog (or should I say leaplamb).
These crazy jumps makes me wonder where it goes wrong in the transformation from being this cute, jumping full of life little lamb to be this boring sheeeeep...
Anyway; Happy Easter!
