For 'MacroMondays' theme of 'Pink'
A very late reconsideration about this week's theme. Having passed this little flower on the usual morning walk it came to mind when looking at other submissions. It's a very unassuming little flower just less than 10mm across.
A bottle placed in the background provides some sort of balance to the picture.
Perhaps of interest to somebody, somewhere, is the use of the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f3.5 70mm projector lens. Made for a 16mm film projector its a very small light lens with no aperture blades so used at f3.5. Great fun attaching it to the camera!
Well, bike path less traveled, alongside the highway. A couple of inches of new snow two days ago, and I am the first human to tread here.
Framed this shot during my trip to Yosemite during the 1st major snow storm this winter, back in November.
This shot has always eluded me with conditions turning out to be really bad at every attempt. I am happy that I finally bagged this shot. This is indeed one of my favorite vistas in the valley, surprisingly ever so less visited by tourists.
This tiny bird (less than 4 inches long) is listed as critically endangered and is one of the rarest birds on Mauritius. Like other rare, endemic birds on the island, its numbers have declined with loss of habitat and predation by introduced species such as rats and crab-eating macaques that destroy nests. I photographed this one on the island of Ile Aux Aigrettes, a protected environment that seeks to preserve endemic flora and fauna.

Seeing Double? ... If you think you have seen this before, you have! I accidentally deleted my first post while thinking I was only deleting it from the map (if you are curious, this was shot in Toronto, ON!). My sincere apologies to all those who took the time to fave and comment, (I had read each one and thanked you all).
HMM Everyone.

For Smile on Saturday. I hope this fits the theme. I love these wild carrot flowers. The light seems to rest on them so beautifully. This one is just about to burst into bloom.
More or less opposite Gorinchem on the other side of the river lies Woudrichem, a beautiful little fortified town. The historical town harbour has become the home of traditional, permanently inhabited ships such as tjalks, clippers and barges. At least three harbours, along with the Visserij- en Cultuurhistorisch museum (fishing and culture museum) bear witness to the age old connection with the river and salmon fishery.
The fortified town of Woudrichem was once a refuge for the countess of Zeeland, Holland and Henegouwen, Jacoba van Beieren (1401-1436). She owned a castle and a house in Woudrichem. Generally known as the Jacoba van Beierenhuis (house of Jacoba van Beieren), the building is situated at Molenstraat number 2. This is the oldest stone house in the stronghold. Those who wish to follow in her footsteps won’t have it easy. Jacoba was a pugnacious woman who fought with her uncle Jan van Beieren and others over land ownership. On 13th February 1419 she signed a peace treaty with her uncle called 'De Plechtige Zoen van Woudrichem' (solemn reconciliation of Woudrichem).
Woudrichem, or Woerkum, is easy to explore on one’s own. Visitors are surprised by the narrow lanes, vast river views and historical buildings. Prefer to get out of town on a walking route? The Stadswandeling Woudrichem (walking tour of Woudrichem) can be obtained from the VVV (tourist office) in the centre of the fort. Or if you’d like to get out with a group, the Stadgidsengilde (town guides’ guild) is at the ready to take businesses, groups of friends or families along for a walk in the footsteps of Jacoba van Beieren

In the gloom of this night of bright sweet dark light
You hear the voice of my memory just walking slowly
You hear the memory of those who would like to die trying
Oh how I wish, oh how I wish I loved you less.....

Day 67/365: 2015
The weekly theme is selective colouring.
I took the parasol out with me in the hope of finding somewhere interesting to photograph it but ended up with this fence. Not sure I'll manage to keep the theme up as I now have RSI from re-colouring! ;) It's quite time consuming too, a great theme though so I'll do my best.
Oh dear, I have just realised that to fit the theme the selective colour was meant to be done in camera, sorry!

It's when you are down on the ground you see it all
What kind of perspective do we have on our lives
We want this and that and never gets satisfied
Less is more is something we may learn as the years go by

two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

If you look carefully you can see the little path that runs alongside the canal. Please view large.
There was a thick layer of snow last night but it is almost washed away by rain…I know it can be dangerous etc but I did hope to get some up to date snow shots today but it’s almost all washed away. Less dangerous for many but disappointing for children who were getting excited about going sledging etc….
