1993’s Deep Freeze Defender from Ice Planet 2002 enters the 2022 LEGO City!
It’s a particularly cold winter day today, take a look at this retro ice-themed SPACESHIP!
Honestly, this large spaceship may be my favorite from LEGO’s Space theme. It checks every box for me: Excellent color scheme, detachable base of operations, simple smaller “escape ship”, rover(s), useable interior space, and great action features!
My only critique for this set is that there is no droid, built up or mini-fig. Unless you consider the small satellite/Superlaser a droid? It roughly works in height.
I had this back in the day, super excited to have it back!

Display made for the french convention "Brick à Dole" 2017. The V2 with a new part "Starship Troopers" was presented to the french convention "Let\'s Go" 2018 in Schiltigheim.
This MOC is a collaborative diorama created with my friend Sweetsha & N3rik.
On this diorama we find the new theme Space Lego but also the Classic Space Lego.
It is intentionally ultra colored, it gives a side very fun :)
There are also many references to the great films of SF, pop culture and it\'s full of humor.
Obviously nothing will happen as planned, Space is going to shit. ^^
First generation Blacktron attack spacecraft were menacing and projected fear and power, whereas the second generation craft were light, agile and showed their strength in numbers.
The XL-15 enters the LEGO City!
This set wouldn’t have been on my radar if it wasn’t for the buzz about the Lightyear film’s director being AFOL Angus MacLane (check out his builds on Flickr!).
Evidently, he pushed for the in-film design to have a yellow transparent canopy, reminiscent of the Classic Space elements.
He also had an interesting spot on LEGOCon, worth a check out.
The build of this one and a cat seater spaceship is substantial! As a medium sized ship it checks most boxes for me: fits all accessories, swoosh-ability is there, has mobile base in form of laptop (stretch), and droid in the Catbot (also stretch). No escape pod/rover, which loses some points when compared to the medium builds of my ‘90s childhood.
But the elements and connections this set brings to the table blow anything from my childhood away. There are a few elements that are super obscure.
Color scheme for the spaceship is great, can’t miss with light blue, white, and black with that yellow canopy.
Also bonus points for extra head/hair elements for minifigs.
Less stellar for me were the minifigs. Buzz looks pretty good, but I’d prefer the dome over a normal helmet (I’m sure that’s a movie plot detail). The other figs have nice printing, but are pretty mute brown, like something out of a Star Wars set.
The shoulder pauldrons for all of them are cumbersome to range of motion.
The rocket launcher build doesn’t really work out to be held, but I do appreciate the built up weapon/scanning accessories.
Very nice set, strong suggest for the building experience and MOC possibilities!
I left off the red stripes off the wings. Does it look cleaner? Worse? Let me know
I’ll be looking at more contemporary LEGO sets that are bringing back Classic Space soon!

Here's a smaller spaceship I whipped up in recent weeks. I didn't start out using many of the new speed champions wedges/tiles, but they ended up coming in handy for the shaping on this one!
Built by Nick Kappatos and myself for BrickFair VA, 2021. The landing pad and roadway components were modular in nature, with the hope of expanding and rearranging over time.
My build for FriendSHIPtember - an Exobotany Exploratory Vehicle. These Minidolls are touching down on a Crystalline Comet to research the alien flora.
It was awesome building this alongside my kiddo, who helped me design the weapon rack and crew, as well as some side creations of their own. The Party Bus windscreen seed parts from Moto led to some super functional LEGO Dots straps which also are structurally holding the removable top covers so they can't get lost. A winch in the armory can help lower and raise crew members, and a revolving door separates the control room from the entry area.
This was built for WACKlug's Nexo Knight Fly-in for BrickCon 2017.
The reason it's taken me so long to post is it's the build I'm probably least happy with from the last few years. While there are some areas (head, neck, blast shield) that I came into with a solid vision and am satisfied with the execution of, there are many others that were rushed; hodgepodges of parts that I came at with no plan beyond a vague overall shaping, and didn't feel like taking the time to fix. The underside in particular is painfully embarrassing.
There is one other motorized function not shown: extendable landing gear. However the weight of the final build far exceeds the lifting capacity of 2 XL motors and it's pretty much impossible to demonstrate now.

Space Truckin' 🚀🚛 : The Last Leg
Built for the Iron Forge, preliminary round of Iron Builder 2020. Seed part is Minifig legs (if you don't already know by now).
I've used them in a few spots for this microscale space delivery: cargo, side of space-truck bridge, initial ring x2, construction drones. I found some interesting, though sometimes finnicky, connections for them - including StarWars antennae, & stud shooter hammers.
Enjoy! And good luck to all who are testing their mettle right now, alongside me, at home.
Massive group shot of a few dozen classic Blacktron II minifigs, taken at night in DUMBO, Brooklyn. My original plan for this set was to place all of the figures on the Brooklyn Bridge, then snap a photo with the sunset in the background to create a menacing shot of the Blacktron figures advancing towards the camera. This proved impossible, as the Brooklyn Bridge was completely swarmed with obnoxious tourists taking selfies, and blocking any vantage points for pictures. I crossed the other side to Manhattan, wandered around Chinatown for a bit, then walked back to Brooklyn where I settled with just simply taking the photos at various points under the bridges.
This particular shot was taken on the sidewalk of a ramp by a visitors' center.
Round 8 of the RogueOlympics at roguebricks.de, last round, this weeks theme: Upside Down. So I built four upside down spaceships in three submissions and I let my fellow Rogues decide which one'll make it as a submission for the final round

Team Astrotech from Corusant presents its new racing speeder for the Unlim class of the Galactic Speeder League. After several years of using Mauna-Effa lava engines, the team is back to in-house protonic power plants. The engineers also paid much attention to aesthetics and driver comfort and safety as this luxury sports vehicle will also be produced for regular use for those repulsorheads who are not afraid of flying and hovering at high speed.
In a questionable design choice, its treads cannot move independently of one another, rendering the vehicle incapable of turning. Although its plans were immediately rejected by the brass, somehow fifteen units were still constructed and deployed, costing over 85.6 Trillion.
Today, two units still remain operational, with all others being destroyed within a month of operation due to various incidents. In only one such incident were enemy forces responsible.
Cliffs were mainly responsible.
This ship is uniquely capable of creating separations in spacetime and opening rifts in the fabric of the universe through which it can travel great distances in an instant.

Spyrius: another great 1990s Space theme. I was 9 years old when Spyrius was first launched; my first set of this series was the small Saucer Scout spaceship. Although it was a short-lived theme with a handful of sets, these space scoundrels were intended to be successors to the villainous Blacktron factions from the late ‘80s and early '90s. Some of the notable highlights of this theme were the large robot vehicles, as well as the introduction of an android minifigure.
First totally asymmetrical speeder and the lightest craft ever entered in Galactic Speeder League, this is the vehicle that will be used by team NinjaGo in he third season of the Formula Jedi class. It utilizes separate repulsors for the engine and the cockpit and therefore separate exhaust systems. The shape of the speeder is partly inspired by Cobb Vanth's speeder from the Mandalorian, and the color scheme is an hommage to the classic Lego M-Tron.
With the Basilisk starfighter, I wanted to try some weapons/loadout variants, like in a SHMUP. This is the level 2, an upgraded minigun. The one in the original photos looks like it will be level 5. More upgrades to come!

The new #LEGO #DOTS are #AMAZING & with so much more #durability and #clutchpower than I imagined (but certainly hoped for!)
Thank you @BrickmasterAmy and the @LEGO team for designing a cool new #WearableLEGO line, I am so excited to build more #MOCs with these sweet bracelets!
Special thanks to my daughter for helping me with the photos and video!!! She loves the DOTS, too and we have been using them as communicators and wearing them all day!
Here is another custom Spaceship design. I think the light aqua and orange work well together and am proud of the way i was able to incorporate that windscreen piece.

Darth Mor’s personal death Squad,
A class built exactly for his warmongering and terror.
Darth Mor’s Star Fighter is flanked by tow of this when he needs a “ little “ more firepower.
Hope you guys like it, let me know what you guys think.
First of all, thanks to Jeffyo for this magnificent AT-AT. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to do it.
I modified it at the stroke level so that it could be coordinated with Benny's actions.
I also modified the design of the legs a little so that it could be more "resistant" during handling (but it remains fragile because the weight of the upper bricks is significant).
In addition, the pieces at the base of the legs being very rare, I added my personal touch.
Well I think Benny is very, very happy with his new toy.

This was the first shot of my Ice Planet 2002 minifigures digging Mr. Burns' teddy bear out of the snow, taken in a pile of snow in my front yard. After editing the photo, I decided to re-shoot it at a higher snowbank for a more dynamic angle.

After the Terran Empire conquered the Klingon Federation, Warp-Ship scientists and designers took on the Federation's workhorse ship and adapted it to "Earther" ways. With warp nacelles embedded into the wings, this ship design seemed to the Terran Empire to encompass the best of both types of designs.
With the Basilisk starfighter, I wanted to try some weapons/loadout variants, like in a SHMUP. This is the level 2, an upgraded minigun. The one in the original photos looks like it will be level 5. More upgrades to come!
