Space Panic

Size : 2,5m x 1,80

Display "Space Panic" South View

Display made for the french convention "Brick à Dole" 2017. The V2 with a new part "Starship Troopers" was presented to the french convention "Let\'s Go" 2018 in Schiltigheim.

This MOC is a collaborative diorama created with my friend Sweetsha & N3rik.

On this diorama we find the new theme Space Lego but also the Classic Space Lego.

It is intentionally ultra colored, it gives a side very fun :)

There are also many references to the great films of SF, pop culture and it\'s full of humor.

Obviously nothing will happen as planned, Space is going to shit. ^^

Classic Space: where it all began. Although I intended to use an authentic Classic Space helmet without the visor, the shape of the chin piece prevented me from having the helmet on the shoulders securely. Thus, I chose to use a Futuron dark blue visor, which makes this nifty astronaut magnifigure a hybrid of both vintage LEGO Space sub-themes!

Freighter #2 of 4. A couple of the shots got blown out but I was far too lazy to reshoot.

Your budget is too small for a Winnebago, but you want to combine camping and space travel? Try the Land Ro... I mean, Space Rover!

The XL-15 enters the LEGO City!

This set wouldn’t have been on my radar if it wasn’t for the buzz about the Lightyear film’s director being AFOL Angus MacLane (check out his builds on Flickr!).

Evidently, he pushed for the in-film design to have a yellow transparent canopy, reminiscent of the Classic Space elements.

He also had an interesting spot on LEGOCon, worth a check out.

The build of this one and a cat seater spaceship is substantial! As a medium sized ship it checks most boxes for me: fits all accessories, swoosh-ability is there, has mobile base in form of laptop (stretch), and droid in the Catbot (also stretch). No escape pod/rover, which loses some points when compared to the medium builds of my ‘90s childhood.

But the elements and connections this set brings to the table blow anything from my childhood away. There are a few elements that are super obscure.

Color scheme for the spaceship is great, can’t miss with light blue, white, and black with that yellow canopy.

Also bonus points for extra head/hair elements for minifigs.

Less stellar for me were the minifigs. Buzz looks pretty good, but I’d prefer the dome over a normal helmet (I’m sure that’s a movie plot detail). The other figs have nice printing, but are pretty mute brown, like something out of a Star Wars set.

The shoulder pauldrons for all of them are cumbersome to range of motion.

The rocket launcher build doesn’t really work out to be held, but I do appreciate the built up weapon/scanning accessories.

Very nice set, strong suggest for the building experience and MOC possibilities!

I left off the red stripes off the wings. Does it look cleaner? Worse? Let me know

I’ll be looking at more contemporary LEGO sets that are bringing back Classic Space soon!

Well, after watching my poor Explorien starship for a while I decided it has to be modded. This gave birth to the idea to make a big Startron MOC based on the old ship. And here she is 😉😉 .

She’ll have battery box, foldable weapons, modular structure, hangar bay, small attack craft, and she will be lit by LEDs, yup that includes her engines as well!

It's finally here! I had so much fun building this one. It was quite the challenge but I think it turned out even better than I hoped!

If anyone is interested in building this for yourselves, the instructions are available at brickvault.toys

Future Foundation is the new brand of Stark Industries, presenting a very sleek racing speeder for the Galactic Speeder League

The latest RogueBricks contest called for speedy spaceships: 'Space Police Tag-Team' required people to pair up in teams of two, one building for the good guys, and one for the baddies.

YgrekLego went with Space Police and I decided to take a look into Blacktron again!

The Blacktron Shapeshifter is a harmless, civil and rusty looking light spaceship. But wait until its firepower is revealed. If you don't look fast enough you won't know what hit you!

For once, I've find a fitting name : "Blocky Runner" ^^

Seventh (and last...) Vic Viper for 2021, and by far my favorite.

It was very fun (and not that easy as it may seems) to go to the total blocky look.

Possibly my favourite of the later Classic Space ground vehicles, the 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport perfectly combines the practical near-future explorer vibe of the very first generation of Space sets with the (mostly) more advanced aesthetic sensibilities of the later sets.

I just *had* to try an updated version.

Numerous other people have built excellent updates of this great set, many of which are far superior to mine, but I'm pleased with my efforts regardless.

Utterly ridiculous...

also: SLUG represent.

This is one of my favourite builds of his.

Captain’s Log. Stardate: 1905.10

The owners of those helmets we found clearly suffered a worse fate than us. We were lucky. Seeing the 928 is always a glorious sight. We’ll be heading back into space, safely away from those creatures…

Please vote for this idea on the lego website (link above)! With 10000 supports in 1.5 years, LEGO will consider to make it a real toy set!

The actual set idea is not specific to particular astronauts but includes many spare parts to make your own astronauts!

Actually, the very first MOC I've done in my "Classic Space Revival" serie, it's from 2010...

A new addition to the Galactic Speeder League in the Formula Jedi class entered by team Lego City Space. Having their racing base on Mars, they are ready to compete in the home Grand Prix!

The design is a little bit inspired by classic Mandaloriolan speederbikes and the iconic Chapparal 2j.

New image of my LEGO Ideas entry: NASA Artemis Spacesuit.

The latest spacesuit for the moon exploration from 2024 was made brick by brick, featuring the realistic look based on the real Artemis spacesuit, functional joints, detailed portable life support system (backpack), rear entry hatch, and two minifigs representing the "first woman" and "next man" since the Apollo Program in '60s and early '70s.

I'd like your help to make this idea a real LEGO set.

Please visit the LEGO website link above to click "SUPPORT" button! (the registration for lego web is free)

If this idea receives 10000 supports, LEGO will consider making it a real toy set.

I appreciate your support on this moonshot!

With the Basilisk starfighter, I wanted to try some weapons/loadout variants, like in a SHMUP. This is the level VIII, the weapons on the ship are the same as level VI, the gun drones are retained, and a shield drone is added in front. The one in the original photos looks like it will be level 5. This is the final upgrade I've built, and the last that I had ideas for.

Built by Nick Kappatos and myself for BrickFair VA, 2021. The landing pad and roadway components were modular in nature, with the hope of expanding and rearranging over time.

NeoClassic Space popping up in the Monkie Kid theme with Chang’e Moon Cake Factory

With the build-up to the release of the Galaxy Explorer 2022, I’m looking back at a few builds over the past year that harken back to Classic Space- NeoClassic Space

I’m not necessarily the demographic for this kit, but the neon transparent elements and color scheme caught my eye for MOC potential. When viewing it through the lens of a medium-sized spaceship from early ‘90s, I can appreciate the set as a compelling plaything.

The Bunny Mech, while not meant for minifigs, carries two intended bunny-pilots or a resting minifig. The butt of the ship can pop off to reveal either an energy fuel container or storage for valuables (if not just a microwave in a strange place).

The ship has interesting shaping, especially with the legs, and that great large dome element. Escape pod box gets checked. Stud-shooters are there to good effect as well.

The side-base, a moon cake factory, build is simplistic but charismatic and effective. There is a conveyor belt that might not be captured by my photos, which looks really good for the few elements used.

Simple carrot-rocket and hover-control station/Live-stream station are simple but effective small builds to add to the play value/storytelling.

A funny medium-sized kit with some good MOC potential. What do you think?

Built for SHIPtember 2021.

It is 155 studs tall, 119 wide, 99 long, and contains 10,001 pieces.

In a "what if Lord of the Rings was a space epic" comes the terrifying mobile spacecraft citadel known as The Mouth of Sauron. This spaceship is commanded by what is rumored to be a black Numenorean who is the lieutenant of the Barad Dur system in the Middle Space galaxy.

It acted as the mouthpiece so-to-speak of the galactic terror of Sauron. With a fiercely powerful wraith cannon it laid planets and solar systems under the submission and destruction of Sauron.

The spacecraft was also rumored to be the physical remnants (mouth, parts of his brain, and spinal cord) of the great galactical tyrant after his resurrection as the Eye of Sauron black hole.

Hundreds of orc and Uruk-hai worked as grunts to operate the spacecraft.

It was destroyed shortly before Frodo and Sam destroyed the black hole of the Eye of Sauron by the spacecraft known as Andúril piloted by Aragorn.

WELCOME to the NEW SPACE AGE!

Inspired by the real space stations, this imaginary minifig-scale space outpost is the place for all variety of crew members working together and expanding the human frontier- the moon, Mars, and beyond!

About 20 years ago, Prof. Twiggs at Standord University, USA started the small satellite education program. Two "cubesats", 10cm x 10cm x 10cm small satellites developed by students in Japan, were launched from Russia in 2003. Since then, cubesat education programs in colleges as well as the small satellite industry took off!

Nowadays small satellites can be released in full control from the International Space Station into the orbit.

I made another thing for my RLUG's (Sacramento Brick Builders) monthly build challenge and am posting early. The challenge was either water adventure or tie-fighter. I combined the 2 with my creation of the Tiekranoplan Heavy Assualt. Although digital, this can be completely made in real life with existing elements. Here is my head cannon for the Star Wars spacecraft: The Tiekranoplan Heavy Assault (TK-HA) was designed by the Empire for under-radar/stealth attack runs on well fortified cities specifically located on water worlds. The TK-HA was designed to fly just a few meters above the water with fierce speed powered by 8 forward heavy ion thrusters creating a sudo-ground effect and 8 rear ion engines with relative stealth and the element of surprise against the adversaries of the Empire.

The TK-HA carries 6 long range neutron missiles, 12 proton depth charges, 2 forward facing laser cannons, 2 wing mounted turbo lasers, a rear gunner with actuated quad laser cannons, and a pilot.

Very few have ever discovered this secretive class of Tie-fighters and the few that have, have often referred to them as the "Emperor's Sea Monsters."

Two of the back of the box alternate builds for 6891 Gamma V Laser Craft (1985)

Lasha Venomari's racing speeder from the Galactic Speeder League.

This was built for WACKlug's Nexo Knight Fly-in for BrickCon 2017.

The reason it's taken me so long to post is it's the build I'm probably least happy with from the last few years. While there are some areas (head, neck, blast shield) that I came into with a solid vision and am satisfied with the execution of, there are many others that were rushed; hodgepodges of parts that I came at with no plan beyond a vague overall shaping, and didn't feel like taking the time to fix. The underside in particular is painfully embarrassing.

There is one other motorized function not shown: extendable landing gear. However the weight of the final build far exceeds the lifting capacity of 2 XL motors and it's pretty much impossible to demonstrate now.
