leads 891 enters the curvy east end of the Tucker siding in Jeffersontown, KY on its slow trek to town.
Built in 2012 and specially painted to honor the legendary Norfolk and Western.
Elidir leads the train away from Cel Llydan station the end of the line for this run due to maintenance work - we broke our journey here for a short walk around the forest park.
This photo shows "Harry in San Marcial, 1914." A bit of research leads me to believe this is Harry William Lane (1891-1972), who was born in San Marcial, New Mexico, and lived there at least until 1924. He was a railroad accountant, so this photo probably shows the interior of one of the railway offices at San Marcial. The calendar on the wall comes from the Swastika Fuel Company, which was a coal-mining outfit based in Raton, N.M. A little town grew up around one of their mines, and they called the town Swastika, New Mexico. At the outbreak of World War II, they had to change the name for obvious reasons, and Swastika became New Brilliant, New Mexico. It was located near another mining town called Brilliant, New Mexico, that had been abandoned. New Brilliant is also now a ghost town, on property owned by Ted Turner.

But both could count themselves lucky, as 2 of just 8 cars that finished the race marred by heavy rain and countless crashes. Will Power was luckiest of all, winning the race.
