The Palais des Papes is a historical palace in Avignon, southern France, one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. One time fortress and palace, the papal residence was the seat of Western Christianity during the 14th century. Six papal conclaves were held in the Palais.
The Palais is actually made up of two buildings: the old Palais of Benedict XII which sits on the impregnable rock of Doms, and the new Palais of Clement VI, the most extravagant of the Avignon popes. Not only is the final combination the largest Gothic building of the Middle Ages, it is also one of the best examples of the International Gothic architectural style.

La cathédrale Notre-Dame des Doms est une cathédrale catholique romaine située à Avignon, à côté du Palais des papes d'Avignon. De style roman provençal, elle date de 1150, puis fut agrandie aux xive et xviie siècles par des chapelles latérales.
La Cathédrale Notre-Dame des Doms d'Avignon est située sur la partie nord d'Avignon intramuros. Elle a été construite sur une protubérance rocheuse au nord de la ville, le rocher des Doms, surplombant la rive gauche du Rhône.
Sa position sur le rocher, sa flèche imposante surmontée d'une vierge et sa proximité du Palais lui permettent à la fois de dominer la ville et d'être vue de très loin.

Avignon Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame des Doms d'Avignon) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in Avignon, above the Palais des Papes. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Avignon.
The cathedral is a Romanesque building, mainly of the 12th century, the most prominent feature of which is the gilded statue of the Virgin Mary which surmounts the western tower. Among the many works of art in the interior, perhaps the most beautiful is the mausoleum of Pope John XXII, a masterpiece of Gothic carving of the 14th century.

¿Y como describir tan hermosa escena con palabras?
Tu y yo en un día cualquiera, una tarde cualquiera en una habitación cualquiera te pedí que me tradujeras una película francesa y las escenas pasaban pero me miraste con aquella impotencia de no poder cumplir y yo te miraba intentando decirte que no pasaba nada, intentando hacer desaparecer esa culpabilidad y nos dijimos todo con esa mirada.
Pero fue entonces cuando me dijiste que una película así no podía traducirse con palabras.
Amor mío no hace falta saber francés para que la entiendas.

On a recent visit to Montreal with the wife, reservations made weeks ago one late evening celebrating our anniversary brought us to LeBremner in Old Port. Co owned & was chef'd by Chuck Hughe's but now in the hands of master chef Danny Smiles. The atmosphere, staff and mainly the dishes left a wonderful lasting impression on us. Now that we're back home I wanted to re-create a simple appetizer that we loved at LeBremner. Sour Dough bread, loads of whipped butter, radish with a good amount of salt/pepper. Just try it. (next time I'd cut the bread thicker haha)
Sur le palier, sous la grande baie courbe, on peut voir un cache-radiateur en aluminium chromé, lui aussi incurvé, pensé comme une véritable oeuvre d'art.
... ou comment l'homme continue a façonner le paysage.
On peut aussi interpréter cette photo en se disant que c'est la comparaison entre le travail d'un homme (les sillons du champ) et le travail de plusieurs centaines d'hommes (le terril).
