The final minutes of evening sun on the ornamental grass inside the roundabout, ideal for catching the light slanting down the directly west-aligned street.
This was the last thing on Rt 66 in Oklahoma before crossing the Texas/Okla state line. However, In our case it was the first stop as we were coming from Texas into Oklahoma
This was from a summer ago while in Yellowstone.
We are, however, just now returning from a five day backpacking hike on the Appalachian Trail. I've been forcing the boys on these trips to a certain extent. There are parts that they have liked and parts that they haven't. I asked them to do it enough times until they understand what it is about. So after three trips - North Cascades, Yellowstone and the AT - I think that they now understand. Starting next year we will give them the option of going with or not. I have my suspicions that this was our last hike.
Terrific Thursday to you. I hope you are well.
I'm taking one last walk at the home that I love. Musset and I are rarely on SL anymore as we share our time together daily in our real life.
A large home is best when it is able to be enjoyed by someone that is on more due to its beauty.
It's a dour misty day over the fenland-like landscape of the River Humber's north bank, and the last rites of Crabley Creek Signal Box and semaphore signals are all but playing out.
Well, at least that was the plan. The £34m re-signalling project designed to eliminate all signal boxes and semaphore signals along the 9½ mile stretch from Gilberdyke to North Ferriby was ultimately successful - with the exception of the box at Crabley Creek. Required to serve Crabley Farm, which lies isolated on the banks of the Humber behind me, the deeds of the land specify that while ever there is a railway crossing just here, it must be manned.
So, the signal box, which at over 120 years just happened to be the oldest along this stretch, remains in use. It no longer controls signals (that takes place some 30 miles away at the York Rail Operating Centre), but the attendant on duty does monitor the location of trains on the track diagram to decide when it's safe for traffic to and from the farm to cross. With typically 10 trains an hour using the crossing, integrating the passage of tractors, especially during the busy harvest season, together with the occasional movement of livestock, can be quite a challenge.
In this shot, a 2-car Northern class 142 Pacer unit approaches under clear signals with a local train destined for Hull. Rather like the signals, the Pacer unit is now also consigned to the past. But at least some of the history here lives on.

This is a shot I took a month ago. It is not the most bokehlicious one, but I quite like the illumination of the nasturtium flower by the last light of the day. I hope you like it too!
Our last stop before returning to Bangkok on our road trip was at the seaside resort of Hua Hin. Long time followers will remember a series of pictures from there not too long ago where I featured Chopsticks Hill. Our resort hotel was just along from there - here was our night time view
View of nature......!

Sunset in London. Time to say goodbye to a strange and difficult year, and also sadly end a long and fruitful relationship with our European neighbours.

On June 2nd we had general elections in Mexico. We had two choices:
to continue with the populist, inefficient, corrupt and conservative government that we have since the last six years, but disguised as a liberal left-side party
or
to give the chance to rule to a strange mixed coalition that could restore a better social policies.
The preliminary results are not good, so it seems that we missed the last train to a better future. Hope that I am wrong.

tried to reach the tallest waterfall in Iceland for Sunset, but the waterfall was to far, with wading across streams and another hour of mountain walking so turned back and wished to find an old hut on my way back to the car and found this instead
