Aubergine (eggplant) is the nickname for this 70ties building in Rotterdam. The real name is Coolse Poort (Cool Gate)
Tribal techno craziness. Inspired by Dino Riders. Obviously. And by some of the Kroot stuff. Obviously.
Ohhhhhh Kaaaay. So here's my WH40K Weapon. So this is the kroot rifle. The kroot are Canivorus mercenaries Employed almost exclusively by the T'au. The Kroot Rile was once a slug throwing weapon but the T'au upgraded it to a Pulse weapon. The design is a throw back to the traditional Staff weapon of the Kroot's past.
Reworked my old fire warrior, adding some beefiness and a new pauldron. Also added a base. Now I'm working on a Kroot shaper.
These are my latest additions to the Tau cadre. A Knarloc, a Krootox, a Shaper and several Carnivores with different Kroot weapons, all are loosely based on miniatures by GW and FW.
These designs are somewhat basic, I need your opinions and suggestions concerning small fixes and customization!

A Kroot Carnivore (maybe more of a shaper) for marchhammer. This guy was fun to build. Looks like the Tau are getting a lot of love!

Kroot Description:
The Kroot (scientific name Krootis aviana) are a species of humanoids who evolved from avian creatures. Kroot are tall aliens (a good half-meter taller than most humans), their avian ancestry giving them a bird-like beak and long quills protruding from their heads like hair. Smaller quills, possibly the evolutionary remnants of feathers, can be found scattered over their bodies. However they do bear a reptilian appearance in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade being covered in reptilian-like scales.
A unique feature of the Kroot is that they evolve by selecting traits of their defeated foes to absorb by eating them. Due to this, the many Kroot warbands across the galaxy often look radically different. Kroot leaders are known as Shapers; they are generally the Kroot with the best ability for recognizing desirable traits in defeated foes and tell his Kindred (the word for a Kroot clan) what to eat to suit the task at hand. For instance, a Shaper who wants his Kroot to gain muscle mass will take on campaigns against Orks to acquire the right DNA, while extensive feeding on flying predators will allow the Kroot to grow wings. This eating of their foes ties in with the religious beliefs of the Kroot: they believe that when a warrior of any race dies, his warrior spirit should be kept, and the only way to do this is by eating his flesh. The Kroot practice this in their "burial" customs, in which the body of the deceased is consumed by the kindred.
Kroot who prey extensively on a particular species will begin to take the characteristics of that creature. In sentient species such as Orks and Humans, they may also take on cultural aspects of that race as well. Kroot who have fed on Dark Eldar, for example, soon begin to show signs of the cunning and intense cruelty the Dark Eldar are known for.
In the case of animals, this sometimes leads to evolutionary dead ends. A Kindred will find itself locked into an animalistic and unintelligent form, unable to evolve themselves any more. Species such as Tyranids who also absorb the DNA of their prey are particularly dangerous for Kroot to prey upon, as they may acquire too many undesirable Tyranid characteristics. Feasting on followers of Chaos is also dangerous because of being susceptible to Chaotic corruption. The ecology of the Kroot homeworld of Pech includes many species of animal that are partially Kroot, the results of a kindred's evolutionary missteps. The Kroot use these related creatures as laborers, pack animals, and even as weapons. The most common examples are the canine Kroot Hounds, the lumbering and powerful ape-like Krootox, the dromaeosaurid Knarloc riding beasts, and the massive dinosaur-like Great Knarlocs. Another creature of note is the Kroothawk, an animal held sacred by the Kroot, possibly because it may be their evolutionary ancestor. There are other Kroot sub-species that are considered outcasts in Kroot society and are killed by Kroot if found.
In order to gather genetic material from all over the galaxy, the Kroot offer themselves as mercenaries, and sell their services to anyone willing to pay them. They travel the galaxy taking limited contracts from both major and minor races (most of which are too small to be included in the game), and are regularly employed by the Tau. While the contract with the Tau is supposed to be an exclusive one, the Kroot regularly send out their "warspheres" to continue their mercenary trade amongst the wider cosmos.

This is the companion poster to the first document, and is a flow chart for prioritisation procedue, i.e. triage. There are many such real-life charts in existence, the best (in my opinion) is the SMART one produced by TSG and utilised by the British military (the one I am most familiar with), as well as various Police, Fire, Ambulance and other emergency services across the world. However, whilst their chart is neat, simple and tidy, that didn't seem to fit the bureaucratic mess of the 41st millennium. So, I went for a slightly older, somewhat abtuse system that was also easier to produce with my limited graphical technology at present - had I been at my own PC I could have easily replicated the SMART system in seconds. Real-life nicely mirrored the anachronistic, archaic tech of the dark future

While e-commerce is booming, single-use plastic packaging is out of control, growing to 55 billion bubble wrap letters every year! Woola can replace it all with beautiful envelopes made from the scrap wool that would otherwise be burned or buried in Europe alone. Future Ventures just led their seed round.
From TechCrunch today:
“Bubble wrap has been dominating the packaging industry for ages – but its decline is inevitable,” said Woola’s CEO and co-founder Anna-Liisa Palatu. “The industry is broken for two reasons: fossil fuel reliance and single-use mindset. We need to get rid of both to make packaging more sustainable.”
"Sheep wool is an unused resource – more than 200,000 tonnes of wool is thrown away in Europe yearly. Woola says this is enough to fulfill 120% of the global bubble wrap demand."

The latest piece in my series of 40k medical fluff documents, this is a rough draft of the triage tag (front on left, back on right). A must for all Imperial medical personnel, from medics and nursing staff to the Chirurgeon-General.
These tags are attached to the casualty by the likes of a field medic (whatever name you prefer) so they go to the right places and get the right aid as they're passed along the different personnel in the chain of evacuation.
If feedback is generally positive, I'll modify a version to actually resemble a tag, and eventually make a physical tag when I have time.
I am considering a slight rejig of the system to make it more "grimdark" (yet still workable) in making reverse triage standard, this is often used by real-world militaries in wartime to keep the maximum number of soldiers on the field, so they treat the minor ones first to get them "fighting fit" and then save the severe ones if they can. I imagine in 40k there would be less effort to save the severe ones.

Entry for diorama category at Golden Demon. Deep in the heart of an imperial stronghold, a troubling invetsigation is underway into the latest acquisition, specimen LV1138. In the background, three iterations of genestealer show the evoltion of the species. On the table, the next development - having assimilated Kroot DNA. From the observation deck, a faceless (literally!) inquisitor looks on. The door is barred by a guard with a strange device that can immobilise anyone who tries to enter - or leave - the room.

The moral of this picture is don't be stupid and invite Kroot to a party!

A "quick" and dirty paint job - the goal was to paint this pair of Kroot Carnivores as quickly as possible and still have them look good. This pair took one day (one session, not 24 hours!).
The Tau shoulder guard could denote that he is a Shaper.
(Notice they have grenades and pistols? Why don't they use them in the game huh?!)

This is essentially a poster that one might see dotted around aid posts and barracks across the Imperium, instructing (or reminding) medical personnel of how to triage casualties on the battlefield (prioritisation of care based on severity of wounds and injuries to enable maximum efficiency).
