Featuring 'Kristopher K' Fabric Designs

... as I wanted to update the look of our guest bedroom, I decided to start with a simple "easy as" headboard slip cover.

This fabric slip-cover, is fabulously easy to make, and can transform the look of an existing headboard (be it modern, antique, painted or stained, timber or chipboard ;) in a matter of hours.

On 9/27/14 - 142 volunteers removed enough trash to completely fill a 40 dumpster which included 290 trash bags of litter from Bread and Cheese Creek (from the Berkshire Community to North Point Boulevard) and North Point Road. These photos show them hard at work on this day! 10 tires, 6 shopping carts, 4 cans of paint, 3 rugs, 2 TV’s, a mattress and box spring, a reclining couch, a 55 gallon drum, and a toilet were all items that were removed from this historic stream. Additionally 1 ton of metal was pulled from the creek and will be recycled with the money going toward helping to pay for our next cleanup. All food left over will be donated to Rita’s Table a local food kitchen dedicated to helping feed the needy of Dundalk. Thank you Volunteers you are worth your weight in gold and more!!!

We are a group of volunteers who worked with the community in association with National Public Lands Day, the Ocean Conservancy, American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland, and Day to Serve on this cleanup.

We would like to Thank Entenmann’s Baker Outlet for donating donuts; Re/Max Realty for donating hotdogs and a hotdog cart for the day; Lafarge for donating pulled pork, potato chips and soda; and Gotugo for donating a portable restroom for the event!

We would also like to thank the following groups who showed up in large number to help for the day: The Boy Scouts, The Girl Scout Brownies, the U.S. Navy, Dundalk High School, Saint Timothy’s School for Girls, Towson University Students, Johns Hopkins University Students and the Forestry Association! Thank you all for helping to make this cleanup an incredible success!

Kristopher Hodges, 14, from De Leon, Texas, launches a watermelon seed into the air during the seed spitting contest at the De Leon Peach and Melon Festival on Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2005.

still having some problems with the rollei - at least 90% of these shots [and shots on all rolls i've taken after the first 3 i had run through it] are coming out with the frame shifted a bit to the right, including things in the frame that i hadn't originally put there. what's weirder, is that the shift is totally inconsistent. sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's insane. i've talked to a bunch of people who have offered different recommendations or possible causes, but none of them seem to be the case. i'm guessing it comes down to something in the back of the taking lens being jarred around from the inside, but i'll take it in for repairs to find out asap.

so, i feel kind of 'mehhhhhh' about most of these shots, but i totally had to upload them for the sake of documenting SF nerd-out extravaganza-ness.

Sewing Day Today - Yay!

The weather has been scorching here all week, so today I've decided to make myself a cool summer skirt with my new design: "French Shabby ZigZag - Antique White"

However, anything more than straight sewing can be a bit of a challenge for my limited sewing skills, so I thought I better get a pic of the fabric first - lol ;)

Good news blogosphere. Kristopher Tate, the 17 year old wunderkind blogged about previously here as the fastest developer of the photo trackback feature in the West, can now vote. Yes, that's right, he's 18 now and well what better way to ring in the celebrated 18th year than by releasing a new version of his software. Mike Arrington has the scoop, and Arington's screenshots (yes of course it is ironic, mine and Arrington's Zooomr screenshots on Flickr), and Tate is saying that he will roll out version 2.0 of Zooomr later this month.

Arrington previously dubbed Tate's Zooomr as "Flickr on Steroids," high praise coming from the Web 2.0 blogmeister himself.

So what's new in version 2.0? I've had a chance to play around with the beta software for the past few days and some pretty cool stuff. One of the main new features is something called SmartSets. SmartSets really are best thought of as live dynamic photo search, but the application for photo sets and photo pools are huge.

One of the most requested features at Flickr has been something called sets of sets. The idea is this. Let's say I go to Italy on vacation and want to create a set or album of photos to share called Italy 2006. But then I also want to create different sub sets within that set, say "Italy Florence 2006" "Italy Rome 2006" maybe "Italy kids 2006". Right now with Flickr this is not easy to do.

What Zooomr 2.0 does with SmartSets is allows you to sort and dice your photos and also everyone else's public photos in many different ways. So you could, for instance, have a set with all of your photos tagged Italy2006 and under that set a set called Italy2006Florence, etc.
