The Goldenberries, or Cape Gooseberries are relatives of the familiar garden perennial, Chinese lantern, Physalis alkekengi. Although he plant is native to tropical South America, throughout many parts of the world, golden berries are cultivated as they only require a tropical climate and decent rainfall to grow. When growing, a bell-shaped husk will form around the fruit. The color of the bell shaped husk indicates when the fruit is fully ripened. If healthy, the husk turns a light green meaning the fruit is edible. But if left alone for to long, the husk will harden and turn a yellow-brown color indicating that the fruit on the inside is beginning to rot. Pictured above are old remains of a husk minus the fruit on the inside. The fruit itself can grow 1/2 to one inch wide. It is a globe shaped fruit, with a glossy orange skin. The coloration on the plant is important because if unhealthy or needed conditions, such as moisture, aren't being met, the fruit will lose all it color. This makes it an indicator for drastic changes that could occur to the plant's environment.

It's important to protect the Goldenberry as it is an indicator for droughts. Before knowledge of a drought is clearly evidenced, Goldenberries' fruit will lose its lustrous orange color and the plant will go dormant. This is vital knowledge because scientists can realize a drought is occurring before more severe reactions from other plant life take place.

Knowledge is a poet. I shot him at First Friday, Las Vegas.

I enjoyed listening to him, even though it was a little too political for my tastes - but that may be because I'm a little too apathetic when it comes to politics.

The Forty-ninth Session of WIPO's Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) took place in Geneva, Switzerland From December 2 to December 6, 2024 in hybrid form – with delegates and observers attending physically in Geneva, Switzerland, and via remote participation from around the world.

With my extremely limited knowledge of insects I came up with the name "Corymbia rubra" for this bug after a quick comparison of other images lurking around the thing called Internet :-)

Not sure if this is correct though...

It's one mean looking fella thats for sure!

The cover of this book is spectacular. It's The Alchemyst by Michael Scott and is based on Nicholas Flamel and his immortal life. A great read, but the cover has shiny gold parts too which look stunning
