In July 2012, the Alicia Ashman Library showcased titles featuring the history and literature of World War I in its Beyond the Page display. The Beyond the Page campaign is a joint effort of the Dane County Library Service and the Madison Community Foundation to create a permanent endowment that will support humanities programming in all 28 public libraries in Dane County. Continuing on the bookstore musings, it is staggering the amount of knowledge that has been recorded since the dawn of literature. Even if we dedicate our whole life, we won't scratch the surface of all the printed text out there.... but then again, somethings never changes, so do we even have to read them all?
