In front of the Federal Building in Providence (1908; Clark & Howe) are excellent examples of early 20th century American Beaux-Arts architectural sculpture designed both to ornament the building and symbolize the character or nature of the building's purpose.
The two allegorical groups are meant to represent America and Providence, each comprising three figures that symbolize the particular attributes of the subjects.
This detail is from "Providence" , in which "Independent Thought " is flanked by "Industry " and "Knowledge".

The art community in Second Life is a varied one. Fine art, outsider art, underground art, performance art and music are all mixed in with the technical aspects of programming and scripting.
Second Life is one of the first places to combine right and left brain thinkers into one fantastic execution of art and builds in a virtual reality.
The sophistication of the artist is apparent at several places on the SL grid. There are many places that rival my favorites, but these are my personal choices based on my reaction or how long it stayed with me.
The Apollo sim will always be my very favorite place, but here are two that just captured my head and heart. La Reve and pteron are included on my "to die for" list and of course, The A List!
Both are fantastic. Both are fabulously done with a flair that most of us who build, will never achieve. I also included a few stand-outs from Esperance, Nebulous's ArtHole installation, and also, the conceptual Muzik Haus.
Muzik Haus is included, not because of the build itself. That part is simple, but the concept itself is one that stays with me. Mr Widget is the dj and his party making mash-ups create a total ambiance that drives the performance itself.
He is my current favorite dj. He is a mash-up king. And he shares his knowledge with us so generously.
All these places and all these people... standing before you and your art, sometimes overwhelms me to a point of tears. The emotional connection I feel when I explore or listen is the reason why I believe that art equals life. For without art... life is a dreary place and that is no life for anyone.

The Knowledge City would be virtually an extension of Hitec City in Character and business. APIC will auction lands for development of IT/ITES/BPO, Commercial, Hospitality and even Retail use.
Once the legal hurdles are cleared, the development here will result in transformation of the stretch of land between Whisper Valley Junction and Guchibowli Junction. At the moment there are no shops or super markets along the road. But this stretch will develop into major commercial street similar to Madhapur and will cater to requirements of people living in Residential Complexes of L&T, IVRCL and several upcoming ventures at Guchibowli.
The area around Lübeck, today a large city with a population of more than 200,000, had been settled by Slavs since the 7th century. Slavs had a settlement north of the present city called "Liubice", which was razed by the pagan Rani tribe in 1128.
15 years later Adolf II, Count of Schauenburg and Holstein, founded the modern town as a German settlement on the river island of Bucu. He built a new castle, first mentioned as existing in 1147. Adolf II had to cede the castle to the Duke of Saxony, Henry the Lion, in 1158. After Henry's fall from power in 1181, the town became an Imperial city. Emperor Barbarossa ordained that the city should have a ruling council of 20 members. With the council dominated by merchants, trade interests shaped Lübeck's politics for centuries.
In the 14th century, Lübeck became the "Queen of the Hanseatic League", being by far the largest and most powerful member of that medieval trade organization. In 1375, Emperor Charles IV named Lübeck one of the five "Glories of the Empire", a title shared with Venice, Rome, Pisa, and Florence.
Conflicts about trading privileges resulted in fighting between Lübeck (with the Hanseatic League) and Denmark and Norway – with varying outcome. While Lübeck and the Hanseatic League prevailed in conflicts in 1435 and 1512, Lübeck lost when it became involved in a civil war that raged in Denmark from 1534 to 1536. From then on Lübeck's power slowly declined. The city remained neutral in the Thirty Years' War, but the devastation from the decades-long war and the new transatlantic orientation of European trade caused the Hanseatic League – and thus Lübeck with it – to decline in importance. However, Lübeck still remained an important trading town on the Baltic Sea.

The launch of the Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (ASRH&R) campaign was held at the Collège de Butamwa (Nyarugenge) on Tuesday, 23 August 2016.
The ASRH&R campaign is conducted in partnership with Packard Foundation, to promote access to youth friendly services and advocates for the rights of young people to access quality reproductive health information. The campaign empowers the youth with ASRH&R comprehensive knowledge and promotes positive attitudes, while advocating for the increased use of ASRH&R youth friendly services in health facilities, and in the community.
This launch was attended by local leaders, thousands of youth, community members, and saw free voluntary counseling and testing services provided on this day.
The Guest of honour, the Vice Mayor, spoke about the importance of condom use to prevent getting HIV and the necessity of getting tested to help fight the spread of this disease.
Thereafter, the youth played a skit about the risk of getting HIV, and knew how to talk about this serious subject with a touch of humour.
I’m featuring this operator because of its attractive livery, despite a lack of personal knowledge about the company and its operations. The company’s website tells us that Murphy Transport Ltd is a family business that was founded in 1956 by its managing director Miceál Murphy. It currently employs 40 people and its headquarters are at Ballinlough Road in Cork City. The main area its business is a full load service covering all of Ireland. This includes the carriage of a wide range of bulk liquids in road tankers and ISO tanks. I’ve no knowledge of it earlier fleet but have selected this Leyland DAF 96 to portray what might have been. Grandpa bought us this National Geographic collection when we were youngun's. We used to really look forward to the next one coming in the mail. Now we sort of laugh at them on occasion - especially the technology based ones! Wow, those computers were, um, LARGE...in the early 80's.

More and more companies are building social networks in the enterprise. For those keeping track, the common term used today is Enterprise Social Networks (ESN).In almost all cases, the reasoning for implementing an ESN is to improve collaboration, break down silos, ease the flow information, etc. One that is often missing is how it could influence search results in the enterprise.
In the internet, social networks play a huge role in helping with search results. This help does not come in the straight up indexing of the content and adding to the overwhelming amount of content already being indexed, but rather from the building a a social or knowledge graph from the social networks.
Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc. have built algorithms to mine the content in social networks and to try to understand the relationships between the interactions happening in the social networks. While this information is used for many purposes, the mining of the data is used build out what is called a social graph and to extend knowledge graphs (think really big taxonomies or ontologies).
There is a big opportunity for companies to leverage their ESN implementations to improve their search results. This concept goes beyond the idea of ESN and could even be applied to any location people interact with each other (online meetings, Chat sessions, even corporate email).
By mining the information from these interactions, a social graph of related to topics and concepts can be built, that will improve how people search and eventually find the information they are most interested in.This note was inspired +David Amerland book, Google Semantic Search - Amazon location 2111.
To my knowledge the MK2 (second generation) Subaru MV Pickup was made between 1981 and 1992. Earlier this week I bought this brochure that is dated September 1991. It is a brochure that I had not seen before and it surprised me that Subaru would issue a brochure for the little truck whilst it was in in its last year of production ? do you know or can you tell us more ?

I was facing the difficulties in relationship with my daughter- in-law but through this knowledge there came a strong determination to live life peacefully and to let anything go for this and so I did lots of pratikraman. The most touching experience was that the relationship turned into a beautiful one. And for all this I am thankful to Dada Bhagwan.

I firmly believe that the most important feature of life
is that it is shaped from the inside
as opposed
to being shaped from the outside
like any object is
It grows by absorbing food and things from the outside
sure
but it digests them
transforms them
and develops
following its internal nature
Its growth
will encounter
obstacles
outside
sure
Its growth
will depend
on the abundance or scarcity
of things to absorb
outside
sure
Its growth
will bump into other living things
outside
and be pushed around by them
sure
And so it will adapt its shape
to the cicumstances of the outside
sure
but this adaptation
will be done
according
to its internal nature
Or it doesn't qualify as life
anymore

I'll go out on a limb here
but I believe
this is the same
for our minds
I believe
that our ideas
our thoughts
are alive
only
when they are shaped
from the inside
Sure
we will hear most of them
from the outside
However I believe
as we are not what we eat
but rather what we make of what we eat
once we break it all apart into its base constituents
and reuse these to build what we are meant to be
according to our nature
our thoughts and our ideas are not what we take directly from the outside
from what we hear and read
but rather
what we make of these after we entirely broke them apart
and
rebuilt them
from the inside
That is
of course
if we want our ideas and thoughts
to be alive
I feel
that every idea
every thought
that is taken
as is
or you know
with this minimal necessary adjustment
from the outside
without us breaking it apart
without us daring to break it apart
without us examining it under many angles
without fully digesting it
is as good as dead
I feel
that each time
we take an idea from outside
an opinion
a model
a doctrine
a belief
anything, actually
as is
or you know
with this minimal necessary adjustment
we are acting as a shopping cart
pushed by someone else
A dead recipient
And these thoughts
these ideas
being simply taken from the outside
not being inhabited by us
are just empty shells
covered in scriptures
never to be challenged
These are the toughts
and ideas
that we wish the others to share and express as well
that we wish the others adopt as well
so that we don't have to face any challenge
about them
These are the ideas and beliefs
that we love to give
but not want to discuss
because
they might be changed
and we would be left with nothing
These ideas
and thoughts
are acquisitions
that we refuse be taken away
We can only approach any discussion about them
with the strong knowledge that we will stick by them
and reject anything that challenges them
rather than
with the confidence that we can agree to examine them for what they actually are
are keep them only if they stand true
We can only say
once cornered
that we will not change them
no matter what
It's like that.
Period.
Any discussion
for which we have decided what will be true
in advance
is an exercice
in being an carrier
of boxes never to be opened
A discussion
shaped from the outside
Dead
And what if they
didn't
stand
after all ?
What would we be left with ?
We wouldn't be left with nothing
actually
We would be left
with us
as we are
Rather than
us
as we wish we were
Which of our beliefs would we not run the risk of having to change ?
Which of our opinions would we hate to realize does not stand ?
Which of these have we decided they are true ?
Which of these are we protecting by avoiding any challenge ?
