Around 1861-4 Thomas Evans, Esq moved from Sufton Court and built Moreton Court on the site of a previous house (possibly C17th) at Moreton-on-Lugg Herefordshire. The architect was J.H. Knight, of Cheltenham who was later to complete building work in 1867 on the nearby St Andrew’s church (a new tower was built), also for Thomas Evans. Moreton Court was built in an Italian / Elizabethan style and had an imposing south front with a three storey tower above the main entrance. The service buildings including various conservatories were in the east wing of the building. The west and north fronts faced open park land. Evans died in 1872 and his wife continued to live at the property. The hall was demolished in the 1950s. The site of the hall is now 37 Cedar Close Moreton on Lugg.
The Red Knight is #98 in my 100 Strangers Project. His name is John and he works at Medieval Times. We went there for our eleven year old's birthday. It was what he wanted. It is quite the event. We had a meal and then watched a jousting show. The Red Knight happened to be our knight that we cheered for through the story. Turns out, he was the WINNER as well, which made it all the more special for us. It made our son's birthday. John has been doing martial arts for years and he came to Medieval Times for his sixteenth birthday and decided that is what he wanted to do. When he turned eighteen, he went for a job. He had never ridden horses but was trained for that part of his job. I asked him if he liked working there and he said yes, though it is tiring at times (the show is very physical) but it is quite the unique job. John was a doll and I wish him the very best!

Kaiser Cougars vs Castle Knights
These photos are inspired by the Batman character from DC Comics, the idea was to create a set of portraits that would introduce a group of characters living and fighting crime in Gotham City and calling themselves “Gotham Knights”. There is going to be a video teaser for a fake tv series with the same title and some other promo materials soon.
This is still a Work In Progress project and there will be more characters added to the series.
Technical note: all the photos were taken on the same location, however all of them were taken on a different day. No artificial light was used here, only sunlight and a cheap reflector. The camera I used was Canon 5D Mark I with 35mm and 40mm canon lenses. Edited in Photoshop and Illustrator.
I wanted to say THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who participated and helped me with this silly project (in no particular order): Bob Holmes, Matt Pollard, Katie Reynolds, Jack Thorpe, Marek Hołówka, Dominika Wiśnik, Anna Carina, Ian Azille, Natalia Sztandera, Kamil Lemieszewski, Ula Bankiewicz, Daniela Ionta. Special thanks to Piotr Kasprzyk for the help with the Gotham Knights logo - you are “the bestest”!

The 5000 year old burial chamber, believed to be part of a Neolithic long barrow . The Knights are a small group of five upright stones 400 yards away from the Rollrights Stone Circle, who got their name because of the conspiratorial way in which they lean inwards towards each other as if they are plotting against their king.

All but one of the jousting knights ever made, see also the other photo with a few additional mounted ones without the horse coats.
My sons with wooden swords and shields that my grandfather made for them.
They have, since, painted them and varnished. I'll have to get a finished
product photo as well.
William Marshal (c.1146–1219), often called “the Greatest Knight”, rose from a minor noble to become one of the most powerful and respected men in medieval England. Renowned for his unmatched skill in tournaments and warfare, he served four English kings with loyalty and became Earl of Pembroke, regent for the young Henry III, and a key figure in the survival of the English crown. His life embodies the ideals of chivalry, diplomacy, and steadfast service that defined the medieval knightly tradition.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Eight years after the events of “The Dark Knight,” the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.
WHO'S IN IT Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard
WHEN DOES IT PREMIERE: July 20
When the release of a movie trailer generates just as much hype as the movie itself, it may be hard to live up to expectations. Regardless, “The Dark Knight Rises,” starring Christian Bale as Batman, has its predecessor to blame for these standards. After all, “The Dark Knight” (2008) was one of the most outstanding action movies ever produced.
Director Christopher Nolan certainly wasn’t helping things when he released “Inception” (2010), a film that many of the same fans praised. Perhaps it was no surprise when he began to cast the same actors (Hardy, Cotillard, Gordon-Levitt) into the Batman series. When a formula works, why tinker with it? Of course, all the previous actors are reprising their roles.
The film picks up eight years after “The Dark Knight” and will feature villains Catwoman (Hathaway) and Bane (Hardy). It has been announced this is the end of the series, giving Nolan the creative freedom to do what he wants. Surely, he will make the most of his $250 million budget, eliminating any chance of disappointment.
Although, I do wish they kept the series in Chicago.
