It seems everyone has stainless steel appliances and some type of granite these days. So how do you make your kitchen stand out amongst the masses? Why you install a truly unique backsplash made out of rusted thick gauge steel, of course. I cut them to size, grind off any sharp edges and then I hand them over to Mother Nature to let her do her thing. A little rain creates a beautifully one-of-a-kind finish of streaks and splotches of different shades of rust. I then clear coat them so they feel nice to the touch and stop rusting. Next thing you know, the Jones’ are trying to keep up with you!

How to Get the Best ROI from Your Kitchen Update

"Kitchens sell homes." Realtors® like to say that...because most of the time the kitchen can win or repel a potential buyer in the first few minutes. A kitchen remodel is a great way to improve the value of your home.

I had this old cabinet from Ikea that I wanted to use as a pantry in my new turquoise and red kitchen as it fit my available space perfectly and stores a lot of stuff. So I got out the Tomato Red paint and gave it a little update. (please ignore the sticker on the fridge I have not yet removed, and the painters tape on the last bit of trim I have to paint)

Still not 100 percent finished but getting there. The white appliances and trash can will be replaced with Stainless eventually. Still searching.

This corner was useless in the old kitchen because there was a baseboard heater on the wall. We've installed radiant under the tile so that we could tear out all the old baseboards and maximize wall usage.

Still not 100 percent finished but getting there. We did everything ourselves including plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, painting, tiles, cabinet installs, appliance installs, window installs, etc.

The only thing that required a contractor was the LP gas installation. I thought it would be a bad idea to do that myself.

A stack of the old ugly cabinets and the vent hood...I removed all of it by myself!

Another view of the new kitchen sink, marble backsplash, super quiet Bosch dishwasher, rich maple cabinetry, elegant yet understated crown molding and new tile flooring.
