Temptation is the devil looking through the keyhole. Yielding is opening the door and inviting him in.
~Billy Sunday
“What the Butler Saw” popularised from a mutoscope reel from the early 1900s. The title of this feature became widely used in Britain as a generic term for devices and movies of this kind. The phrase had entered British popular culture after the 1886 divorce case of Lord Colin Campbell and Gertrude Elizabeth Blood. The trial hinged on whether their butler could have seen Lady Campbell with Captain Shaw through the keyhole of their dining room at 79 Cadogan Place, London.
Fortunately this old metal document box had been left unlocked as we have no idea where the key is. The box contains some ancient parchment legal papers, some of which are almost 400 years old I believe.
Brian was so thrilled to have been asked to audition for the revival of the very popular British comedy panel game show 'Through the Keyhole'. He wanted to act as the local presenter who goes around the home of a celebrity while the studio panel tries to guess who the famous homeowner is. Brian is looking rather nervous however!
For Macro Mondays theme 'Keyhole'.
In an odd coincidence, as I was killing time by TV channel-hopping on a stormy Sunday afternoon, I happened upon an old episode of 'Through the Keyhole' from 1988 hosted by David Frost.
No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

A somewhat late Key / keyhole shot , this is the old door at Bookham church . Not used now as this shot was taken through an outer door like a pair of locked garden gates . The main entrance is now through a glass door at the end of the church under the bell tower ( now wheelchair friendly ) . This old door seems to be only opened for special occasions .
Good job I had the little GX1 as I would never have got the dslr lenses through the metal bars of the outer doors !!
A macro view of the keyhole on a jeweled locket, taken for the Macro Mondays group theme, "Holes." The frame represents a span of ½ - inch across.
For a wider view, see this image.
Strobist info:
The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights and an LED steady light. The SB900s were positioned at 3- and 9-o'clock, two-feet away from and one-foot above the locket. They were fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄128 power through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.
The LED light was placed at one-o'clock and exposed for 2s to illuminate the keyhole interior from behind.
The SB900s were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X flash triggers.
Lens: Helios 44M-4 58mm/f2.0 attached to bellows extended 129mm.

Leonard cohen - Dance me to the end of love
Show me slowly and let me see your beauty
Open the door and dance me to the end of love
because time evaporates, life withers,
joy is contagious, sadness collapses us ...
Let me feel the air, let me breathe your breath,
open the door and dance me until the end of love ...
Montre-moi lentement et laisse-moi voir ta beauté
Ouvre la porte et danse-moi jusqu'au bout de l'amour
parce que le temps s'évapore, la vie se flétrit,
la joie est contagieuse, la tristesse nous effondre ...
Laisse-moi sentir l'air, laisse-moi respirer ton souffle

Exploring ideas for the CrAzY Tuesday group theme of 'keyhole' I used the keyhole on my garden shed as the frame and positioned an Osteospermum bloom on the opposite side to focus on.
