Revised-SDS dinner trip, dessert: key lime pie and coffee. Crescent, 24 Jan 2008. I took this trip (PHL-ALX) shortly after Amtrak revised their Simplified Dining Service to allow for more on-board food preparation, just to have dinner and see for myself what the improvements were like. I was impressed!
Brickell Key, an island off downtown Miami at Eigth St, as seen at night. In 1896 , Henry Flagler dredged the Miami River and deposited the soil a few hundred feet offshore at the mouth of the river. In 1943, investor Edward N. Claughton acquired the island and additional bay bottom land and combined them into a 44 acre island site. In the late 1970's, Swire Properties acquired the land and put in place a master development to transform the land into an upscale island community at the mouth of the Miami River and in the heart of Miami's business district. today, over 2000 people live on Brickell key, which now also includes a five star, Mandarin Oriental hotel.
I was taking pictures of this old beat-up piano instead of practicing my horn. :) At least something good came out of it!
The Key
There is little you can do in life that fulfills you more than finding your purpose. Those that know, say that you can be a small part of a big story, like a soldier in a war, or a big part of a small story, like a good father to your children.
Only some can be a big part of a big story, and people admire them for it. Such a path is full of sacrifices some of them only is understood once you are on their deathbed.
Whatever the key to your happiness, make sure that you and your "you" 10 years from now, agree on.

Accessible only by private boat, Egmont Key has a unique natural and cultural history, including a lighthouse that has stood since 1858. During the 19th century, the island served as a camp for captured Seminoles at the end of the Third Seminole War and was later occupied by the Union Navy during the Civil War. In 1898, as the Spanish - American War threatened, Fort Dade was built on the island and remained active until 1923. After touring the historic sites and trails, visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, wildlife viewing, and picnicking.
