This is the old locktender's house on the remains of the Schuylkill Canal, north of Montclair village just across the river from Phoenixville, PA. The canal parallels the river for about two miles here, so one can park near this house, put in to the river, and float downstream. Then, after landing near the bottom of the canal, a short portage allows a flatwater trip back up the canal.
We paddled across Francis Bay out to Whistling Cay. The stone building in the background is the old harbor master's house.
