"Dans la paix, tu n'avances pas, dans la guerre, tu perds ton sang jusqu'à la dernière goutte." F.K.
The striking modern art statue of Franz Kafka’s head in Prague, designed by artist David Černý, is a mesmerizing kinetic sculpture composed of 42 rotating stainless steel layers. Located near the Quadrio shopping centre, the reflective panels constantly shift and realign, briefly forming the writer’s face before dissolving into abstraction, a metaphor for Kafka’s complex, fragmented identity and surreal literary world. Unveiled in 2014, the dynamic installation captivates viewers with its interplay of movement and light, blending contemporary engineering with artistic homage to one of Prague’s most iconic literary figures.
