#26 on my 28 Things To Do While I'm 28 list is, of course, "work toward creating a rainbow of shoes." I worded that carefully on purpose so I wouldn't actually have a real reason to buy randomly-colored shoes too often this year. But this is a pretty awesome-looking rainbow. The beloved orange chucks, green mocs, blue pointy-toed flats, and pink slippers are all new acquisitions since July 2009, and I think I did pretty well while still showing a tiny bit of restraint. (I was thisclose to buying purple patent leather birkenstocks on Tuesday night, but I didn't because even though I need purple for my rainbow, I didn't actually like the shoes enough to buy them. Look how responsible I can be!)

Worst day in about 5 years, physically, for me.

I get gallstone attacks sometimes, got my first about 5 years ago and it was BRUTAL. I puked and cried and just wanted to die for 8 hours straight, it's so painful and it makes you feel so sick it's unreal. I remember falling asleep on the bathroom floor, hugging my sick-bucket and crying.

- Ehrm, and you didn't call the hospital?

- No, I was busy hugging my sick-bucket!

- Just checking.

Since then I've only had minor attacks, cause I avoid certain foods that trigger it, and stuck to that for years, since, well, it's nothing I'd like to experience again. Sort of forgot about it for a while now though, cause I haven't had any pains in a long time, but this morning I felt it a little bit. Was going to take my usual Ibumetin, but I couldn't find it (frankly, I didn't look for it properly) so I ripped out my co-codamols that I got from a friend. Don't know what that is in the US, tylenol with codeine? They're not that strong.

So, I take some codeine, which I btw have done several times before and didn't really feel much, but this time, I FELT IT. The thing is, you're not supposed to take codeine when you have gallstones, because it makes it worse. I had it in the back of my mind somewhere, but I thought "How much worse can it get? It's a painkiller! Must be good!"

I will never ever ever make that same mistake again. Not only did it get a LOT worse, I was also totally wasted on that codeine, like I could hardly feel my legs or stand up straight, although I could feel ALL of my stomach cramps. I would have crashed if I wasn't so sick that I had to stay awake to puke & cry. And the pain, I mean seriously..

On top of it all, my entire body began to itch, to the point that I had to check side-effects from codeine on my mobile (like hell I could crawl to the computer..), so I'm sitting/lying/wriggling in my bed reading up on the Big C side effects, and sure enough, codeine is supposed to make your skin itch like crazy.

I am now in pain, sick, wasted and also SCRATCHING MY SKIN WITH A HAIR BRUSH until it burns all over, on my arms, legs, back, head and feet, or is that the codeine crawling over my skin like ants? I read on some forum that "You just want to jump in a tub full of hedgehogs!" Definitely. Eventually I found some allergy pills in a drawer, and I'm standing there shaking like a junkie, and have to CRUSH the allergy pill with a glass to be able to swallow it and not be sick again. Good times.

I went to the bathroom about 50 times just to stare down my toilet and ponder if I should be sick or just sleep on the tile floor among my dirty laundry. It was getting really hot and bright in my apartment by noon, and I just wanted to sleep in an icecold crypt, pumped up with painkillers and anti-sickness medicine. I was about to fall asleep on the bathroom floor several times, but every time I thought "this is degrading" and stumbled back to bed. Only to discover that it was so much more comfortable in the cold darkness of my shabby little loo.

This lasted 7 full hours. 7 hours of intense pain and sickness, itching and scratching, tossing and turning, texting SOS messages to my brother and friends that they should check up on me in a couple of hours. I should probably have gone to the hospital, but frankly I didn't feel like crawling down the stairs to get a taxi and then lie curled up on the floor in the E.R for 4 hours. Being sick. And itchy. And sweaty.

So, I smashed an Ibumetin with the bottom of the glass and drank it with some Pepcid in veeery small portions, and my blood must have been working at ultra speed today, because not only did I become totally wasted on a pill I normally hardly feel (Co-codamol 8/500 mg) but that Ibumetin kicked in after 10 minutes, I swear. And then I could SLEEP.

At about 2, a friend texted and asked if I wanted to come to the beach with her, because the weather was so amazing, and I was like, um, no, I'm in bed. :/ (slash bathroom.. floor)

So that was a Sunday I'd rather forget about, actually, but probably shouldn't.

Monday 4th was dedicated to defend immigration rights. The main actions yere in the morning in front of the immigration center of Rostock (where a protester was injured and a couple detained) and in the afternoon, a rally at a refugee camp. This was followed by a large unauthorized demonstration, resulting in hours of waiting until the authorities allowed the protesters to go to to the harbor.
