Half her face isn't painted because we still have a long way to go when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. There is still an incredibly high rate of hate crimes, suicides, and homeless youths within the LGBTQ+ community. They still have to worry about discrimination in the workplace, housing, and whether they will be granted public services. There is still an overall lack of acceptance and respect among the general population when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community, such as disregarding preferred pronouns and rejection by loved ones.
Today was a great win for love and equality, but let's not ignore all the progress that has yet to be made.

Uno and I got to meet Flickr friends Kelli, Alice, and June this weekend! It was a blast! The dogs got along great (with the exception of a few words exchanged lol). This scene depicts Alice, digging for dear life, while June and Uno have a noisy conversation.
I was so impressed with these two girls- they were well-mannered, fun, and absolutely adorable :) And of course, it's always great to meet another owner who strives for a fit, well-behaved, and raw-fed dog!!

I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday. It's unfortunate that I can't capture the colors a little better because the skirt is actually navy blue--and my lacey blouse has a wonderful swirling pattern. I've also just realized that I have an overwhelming amount of navy and cream in my wardrobe!!! oh well, i love the colors together!

This morning Emory and I went to the local refuge ....we saw lots of bunnies and a beautiful buck...but the mosquitoes were so bad we didn't dare open the door or lower our windows as we drove thru the refuge.
We ended up leaving and going to the little town's cafe for breakfast. Other than that, I've been resting in bed with my cough drops and hot tea.

Not a very exciting shot of my youngest cat June--but I was lucky to get this as she rarely sits still for my camera. . She's my lapcat....that is, when she's not in the yard hunting bugs and mice.

what to wear on a rainy summer's day?
nautical scooter dress, mod raincoat, gold/silver woven flats: all vintage
I bought this cardboard cat house yesterday and Emory put it together this morning. Curiosity wins every time with cats as June just had to check it out....plus she was enticed by some catnip sprinkled inside. June is my youngest cat at 9 years. She's petite but feisty. We adore her spunk and high energy.

This morning I went to check on my cat colony to see how they liked the new feeding station I set up last week.
Imagine my surprise when I saw that it had been moved [ to the exact same spot where the missing igloo used to be] and had a blanket inside.
Their food was in it's usual place--exposed and not in the new feeding station. Hmmmm.....
When I got home I asked my nephew's wife [ my translator] to call Felipe and ask him what happened and why he made their feeding station into a cat shelter to sleep inside.
His answer: The cats were afraid of the new structure. They wouldn't go inside to eat. So, he removed the food, moved it, and put blankets inside....which they liked better.
After thinking about it for a few minutes, I realized my mistake and how you sometimes need to "think like a cat".
I determined that my cats thought i was trying to trap them. Yup. They must have thought the feeding station was a new type of trap because their food was inside and it must have reminded them of my "drop trap" which I've used on all of them in the past.
So, I drove all the way back this afternoon, and changed it back to the way Felipe had it. I don't want the cats to be too afraid to eat...esp during this cold snap we're having. They probably would have figured it out sooner or later--but that's ok. ...I should have known better.
June is the youngest of my three cats. She's seven but acts like a kitten, full of energy and mischief. I was only able to snap two pics before she bolted ~
She is small ...very petite and delicate. But she's a tomboy and very feisty. She loves her cat hammock by the window...but spends every evening on my lap ...making it quite difficult to type on my laptop.
Anyway....I don't post many pics of June so thought I'd better get busy and start taking more pics of her this year.
June is the beginning of summer and that means the ocean. Birdie wants to do some sailing to kick off his summer fun.
here you can see my little space on our balcony where i sit on hot days like today, eat ice cream and do some creative work.
