Not the most impressive fireworks display I've ever seen, but was still feeling lucky to have captured this one :)

Apparently, one way of celebrating Canada Day in White Rock is to leap into the sea from the pier. There was a lot of this going on.

After crossing the harbour, the sun started to burn through the dawn fog, just after the streetlamps shut down.

Kids and hubby are off fishing & camping, and I have had a most glorious day alone, doing mostly nothing, hee! I headed to Chapters this afternoon for one book, and came back with 4... they had a 'buy 3, get the 4th free' thing happening, and I'm so happy with my purchases. I've already read 4 chapters of the Molly Wizenberg book, and it's utterly fantastic. A wonderful summer read, if you're in the market for a beautifully written and interesting book, not to mention some pretty darned mouthwatering recipes.
Wishing all my Canadian friends and visitors a happy, safe Canada Day Celebrations. Sadly the fireworks are cancelled due to the heavy smoke from the raging forest fires across Canada.

Toronto, the shining jewel of Canada and a reflection of the glamour of Western civilization.
Shot this on July 1, which is Canada Day. On this day in 1867, Canada as a country officially came into existence. It was then known as 'The Confederation'.
Gear: Nikon F55 with Tamron 28 - 200 mm Zoom. Long exposure on tripod. Shot on print. Scanned using CanoScan D1250F flat bed scanner.
