In the world of Judge Dredd, the Judges serve as that, along as jury and, if necessary, executioner. Though perhaps not the most moral system, in the post-apocalyptic dystopia that is the world of Dredd, the Judges are the best option. Judges are highly trained--they have to be, given the sort of opposition they face in places like Mega City One. If they survive their careers (which is not likely), they are then invited to leave the walled cities and "bring law to the lawless" by taking the "Long Walk" into the wastelands. It's a tough life, but someone's got to do it.
Chad's Judge outfit is pretty much right on accurate for both the comic and movie Judges, though it's based more on the second Judge Dredd movie--the 2012 version with Karl Urban, rather than the 1995 version with Sylvester Stallone. Here he is telling me that I'd better get this picture right. I got this shot at GFGR 2013.
