These are pictures of various Cosplayers from Day 1 of Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA. All shot on Canon 5DM2 with a Canon 24-70mm Lens.
I made a rolled/piped collar from round styrene since that was easier and more believable than a tall collar on such a thin suit.
I also filled the inside of the left pauldron with Miliput and formed it against the shoulder so it's a press fit. Conversely the right pauldrom got cut open so that it's hollow underneath, and I made the arm continue up into the space. It's not super tidy in there but maybe better than a blank plate.
Not sure how to add a taper to the neck without attaching the head, which will make painting much harder - maybe I can sculpt it around the neck with the head in place, then break it away and glue to the neck?
Although Strontium Dog shares a creator, John Wagner, with Judge Dredd and both appeared in 2000AD, Johnny Alpha's first appearance was in the short-lived sci-fi action comic Starlord. The two characters have encountered each other in several stories (though Strontium Dog is set 50 years ahead of Judge Dredd and time travel was involved). Despite this, there are numerous differences in the worlds the two heroes inhabit - one of the crossovers has Johnny teaming up with Dredd to capture a criminal from his own era who has started a global zombie apocalypse in Dredd's time. However, this cataclysmic event doesn't seem to be remembered in Johnny's time. John Wagner doesn't regard the two characters as living in the same continuity, so maybe it's a case of alternate timelines!

I recently got the job of scanning a batch of magazines and comics for my brother-in-law's business website. Not having handled a comic for about forty five years I realised that they were quite arty and I thought that they might have a wider interest. Further, I discovered a Flickr group dedicated to comics! I don't know much about the dates of some of these but I hope you enjoy the colourful nature and design.
