The fifth project of the year was to study fashion of any time and re-invent the locket. I loved working with interchangeable pieces for diversity and this one was no exception. I based my research on 50's and 60's Dior gowns and other high end fashion houses collections.
Textured copper ring with white brilliant inset stone.
This copper ring has been formed from metal clay and fired in a kiln, leaving solid copper. I then oxidised and polished it to a high shine. It has a rustic handmade look and the pattern is reminiscent of Klimt or Mucha.

My idea behind these were to integrate technology into jewellery and my vision was that each gemstone would hold information on each facet of the stone. The gem memory is activated by a finger print reader on the inside of the shank and after that all fob key's, public transport, credit card numbers and pin's would be held within that gem.

A very tricky design to get right as it might have come out looking really bad. The whole setting has to curve to fit the finger nicely and the supposedly sharp corners need to be smooth and flowing in reality.
