In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. From my back yard deck I have a clear, unobstructed view of the rising moon. to the East. Also to the East of me is the South to North runway approaches for Denver International Airport.
At this distance from the airport the planes here are on final approach, but still pretty far out, so they are pretty high up.
I saw the moon rising and there was a bit of heat shimmer in the air, but otherwise clear. so I went out to try and take some images of this very orange looking moon. It was still low enough to get the warm colors of all the atmosphere I was shooting through. And then it happened, I saw a jet race through the lower part of the moon. I tried to shoot it, but I was late and only got the tail section in the moon. But now I had a plan!
I set up my camera on a sand bag on top of one of the posts that makes up the railing for the deck. A good solid structure. Then I got a kitchen chair and a warm coat and I lined up the moon in the camera and waited. And waited. A lot of planes landed in that time, but some were too high, then the next one was too low.
Then I saw one coming straight for the moon, from my perspective and I got ready! I started to pre-shoot at the highest frame rate I could get out of the camera. And the plane crossed the disk of the moon. So cool! But it was a small Regional Jet that was coming in on the furthest East runway. The plane is small compared to the moon. I could do better!
