Jess brought me out to a GREAT location and we had a fun morning playing with new lighting equipment and rolling around i dirt and dead plants
Jess showing off her new haircut.
Lighting info: Sb600 and umbrella above to camera right. This could have used a little fill or a reflector so the hair on the dark side wasn't so dark, I think. Also, the eyes are in shadow, which I don't love, so probably the light wasn't in a good spot given the tip of the head, but I still like it.

A friends daughter that I shot before her High School Formal. It was a privelege & a delight to shoot Jess.
This is my favourite photo of Jess. I found it whilst going through some files on my hard disc. She died just over 4 years ago, aged 13, still missed. She looks like she is looking deep into your soul. She's actually wondering why I'm not throwing the ball for her!
It's been scanned in as it was taken using a film camera.
Our newest adoptee... Jess is a semi feral/ dumped cat that we first noticed in late August, looking skeletal and thin and moving like a very old, geriatric cat. With the coming of cold weather in September, I began feeding him (her?) although Jess ran and hid from us at any time we were seen or heard. Over the last 3 months Jess has become much more brave and is now willing to come into the porch and sit on my lap and eat. We feed Jess, and Mark made him (her?) a house to live in. However given how lovey and friendly he(she?) is we are going to adopt and make an indoor cat (I'll take outside on a harness like I do with Harley). That way Jess won't get eaten by the local coyotes and foxes. The vet appointment is next week.
Until the beginning of 2022, NASA guest scientist Jess Bunchek is investigating how astronauts on future Moon and Mars missions could grow vegetables and herbs using as little time and energy as possible. To this end, she has worked at the EDEN ISS Antarctic greenhouse operated by the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) for the last few months and during the polar night, where she has put greenhouse technologies and plant varieties to the test. She is also recording any effects the greenhouse and its yield have on the isolated hibernation crew in the perpetual ice. Bunchek is part of the 10-person overwintering crew at Neumayer Station III, operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).
