The Königssee is a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border.
Königssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Located at a Jurassic rift, it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age.
I took this while leading a free photo hike for Sonoma Land Trust members on their Jenner Headlands property. I should have moved to the left and a little lower to have separation between the mother and calf, but I guess no one is perfect. I still like the picture.
