I spent 25 years building and wheeling in this Jeep. Couldn't take it to Saskatchewan when I moved.

I like that Jeep so much that I tried to make it in a 4-wide variant, because that would fit better into a pocket to take it outside.

As I am not used to building in this tiny scale, this thingy cost me hours. I even dumped the pictures of the first trial on the road, because even if it looked good in real legoes, it didn't look right on a photograph.

The cab looked familiar but the bed was longer than other Forward Control Jeeps I had previously seen.

4-wheel drive makes this useful off-road.

I spotted this beauty at our local restaurant parking lot. I didn't have a duck to leave (#duckduckjeep) so I took a shot of it to share here.

Happy truck Thursday!

Disappointing the UK never got the wooden panelled era Jeeps, I believe some European countries did get them, perhaps Italy as well?

The Willys Jeep was a much-loved all-rounder that spawned a whole new class of vehicle. In 1940, three companies submitted “light reconnaissance vehicle” prototypes to the US Government for testing, Bantam, Willys and Ford. Six months later the Willys MB was selected for production. The Jeep, as it affectionately became known, was so successful that Ford were eventually contracted to mass produce the Willys design, termed the Ford GPW.

Perhaps the iconic vehicle of World War Two, the Jeep continued in service through the Korean War and beyond.

This 1942-built 2200 cc Willys Jeep MB, wearing USA serial No. 20135864, was registered in the UK as SSU 819 in 1989 and is on display in Haynes Motor Museum.

This is a departure from my usual subject and style. My wife and I with the Grandsons were checking out of the hotel in Rockport, Texas when I saw a golden opportunity to shoot these three Jeeps. The blue one on the end belongs to my wife. The other two belonged to some folks we met that morning. I got my iPhone and got busy. I hope y’all enjoy it.

Mel's four children learned to drive using this Jeep. Now it's the turn of his grandchildren!

Her they are, war-ing. Jeep is George and Marie's dog and Mr. Chips is Don and Eleanor's dog. Gladys and Ed got to take care of both dogs while George and Don were stationed away. Here is a letter about some of the dog issues:

Dad answered the phone when some woman called day before yesterday. She said she was one of our good neighbors speaking for a group of neighbors, and would like to ask us to keep our dogs in the house more as they annoyed the neighborhood with their barking. She would like to suggest that we take them out for walks on a leash and keep them in the house the rest of the time, BLESS HER SOUL. Dad asked her her name four different times but she would not give it. She said she respected all our family, etc. and was a good friend. I don't know what all she said, but I was thankful I didn't answer the phone. We thought at first it was Mrs. Weenick, but now we think it was Mrs. Parker back of us. Of course when the dogs are tied out in the yard, they are quite near her back yard, and they were barking quite a lot that morning. There is never a dull moment. Ruby took them out yesterday a little and the rest of the time they were in. Chips doesn't like it very much. We put him out a few minutes this morning on the wire until he began to bark, so he had to come in. He is out now, loose, helping the boy mow the grass. Mrs. Likens and Mr. Weenick have thrown stones at him at different times, but I don't think it was either of them who called. Mrs. Likens has a little female dog that Chips was bothering and that is the reason she tried to get rid of him. She said every dog in town seemed to come down there. Her dog is about as big as Jeep. Jeep is tied in the kitchen now to a chair as she has taken to using the dining room now for her retiring room instead of the vestibule. She is so silent and quick about it we can never catch her at it to punish her. I guess there is always someone in the kitchen, too much to suit her.

Not knowing what photographic opportunities lay ahead along the washed out and rutted "road," I turned around, deciding not to push my luck.

Love jeeps.

Thank you all for your visit comments and faves!

Much appreciated!

More than 25,000 jeeps and 250,000 people in Daytona Beach for Jeep Week 2025. I suppose they won't know the final number until the week is over

Continuing relations with Jeep, the UIC eventually found a need of a rapid deployment and quick extraction ground vehicle. Jeep and the UIC concluded the two door Wrangler Commando to satisfy this need.

Meant for special action the Commando fits the bill when it comes too rapid and effective response. With a super charged engine, gas shocks, lift kit, full metal bumper, and towing. The Commando still retains troop safety, comfort, and effective defense against attackers or mother nature herself.
