Lalbagh was given the status of a Government Botanical Garden in 1856, and since then, it has been an internationally renowned centre for scientific study of plants and botanical artwork and also conservation of plants. Formal and informal styles dominate the garden in perfect harmony, which is a testimony to the beauty of nature. Today, the garden is a lush green paradise with an area of 240 acres in the heart of the city. Lalbagh remains open daily from 6.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. throughout the year.

Went in to have a cooler and saw this guy. Had a feeling that i had seen him before, but he wasn't the one that i was sort of interfacing with at MaarsIndia. He turned out to be a more recent contact at the dinner of KK, a mutual friend.
Couldn't recall his name, but i mollified him by recalling his b'day :-)
We chatted up for a while. Turned out that we had another mutual friend (VR) at Infosys, with whom he did a far-out trip, literally.
A bike journey from Santiago, Chile to Tierra del Fuego, with its southernmost harbor, Ushuaia.
He's a 1000cc bike in Bangalore, so the trip was par for the course for him. Though the winds at 80+ kmph (mph?) were something that they had to struggle with.
This is one more of the many things that i love about Bangaloreans. Well-traveled, well-read, but humble. You see the same things in Rahul Dravid.

This is a documentary of a Sport-for-Development project of Beyond the Rim.
This project at Jayanagar for ‘children-in-difficult-circumstances’ (i.e.child labourers, street children, sexually abused children, those living in institutions etc) offers a basketball program for working children (mostly girls) in partnership with Stree Jagruti Samiti, a grassroot movement that works with adolescent girls and on the issue of child labour in the surrounding slum communities. Most of the participants work as domestic help but also manage to go to school. Presently, this is a weekend activity where essential lifeskills are sought to be imparted through Sport.
