The sun is returning, little by little... and though this is typically our coldest month of the year, we greet the lengthening daylight with joy.

We have gained almost 2.5 hours on the day, at the rapid rate of almost 6 minutes a day.

Weekends are for the girls... don't listen to what others say!

January 2013, this is probably the shot most of you wanted to see since the shoot last weekend. I intend to shoot this tree every month this year as part of a project this year, hopefully the end results will be a calendar, a year in the life of a tree.

Our first Tennessee snow of 2017 caught us a little by surprise. It was just enough to be nice.

Upper 60's today with some good cape and shear in the afternoon produced tornado warned supercells

While up in NH last weekend, I visited this awesome,

eclectic old village store and fell in love with the display!

ROSES IN JANUARY...

Roses I cut from our garden, on the FIRST day of the Year!!!

I had not had the time to prune the roses, that, or when I did have time, the weather was too dreadful to go out! I decided to leave it for early Spring.

Woke up, that first fresh morning, looking forward to a nice long breakfast, opened the curtains, yuk.. four small buds on the rosebush were again being thrashed about in bursts of wind.

The breakfast became shorter than intended... I got dressed and ready, went out armed with my secateurs, brought them in, I saw the leaves were quite damaged.

For the first 2 days nothing happened, despite my encouragement (LOL)... on the third day, YESSS, they were opening... To my amazement, I always thought they were pure white... but no, they had pink edges! Some damage, but hey, perfection=boring?

A true WINTER-ROSE!

Just an urban turkey out for a daily walk, probably part of a resolution for the new year - empty as many bird feeders as possible!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Vancouver is having such a mild winter, the flowers think it's spring already! It's such a cheery sight to see perky daffodils in bloom

Winter months produce some wonderful skies. Just after sunrise this morning.

Tireless, and being sick and tired, irony......

The elegant Lady, walking up the platform, looked sad as she passed me.....

January

Sick and tired you've been hanging on me

You make me sad with your eyes

You're telling me lies

Don't go

Don't go
